SI is a waste of career

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Work culture, diversity
    - Decent Work from home flexibility/leaves
    - Plenty of extra-curricular activities - Dance group, Sports club, Journals Club etc.
    - Good learning and training platform - You need to make the best use of the resources
    - Get to work with latest data analytics tools like SAS, SAP Hana, SPSS. Years ahead compared to other Big 4
    - Amazing support to female professionals. One of the best.

    Cons

    - No work life balance. During the busy season, one has to work for more than 80 hr.
    - Pay is not comparable to market. Appraisal system which got recently changed is not well understood by anyone. No of levels/designation is a joke.
    - No learnings after 1 yr. Work is monotonous. Build networks and push for other projects otherwise waste of time.
    - No exposure to the industry. Purely a backend office. The project we get is hardly for 30 hr. 90% of work is automated. Hardly any client interaction. Work in USA to whom we support in contrary is very diverse. However, we hardly get a challenging project in India which is justifiable since the managers in India are not capable/willing to take new challenges.
    - No real leadership. You will find good leaders in other service lines.
    - Game of thrones level politics in mid-management level. In such games one either live or die.
    - Team size is around 200. Difficult to get recognition. No diversity in skill set. 80% of bench strength is fresh college graduate. Maturity level in the team is average. College like environment.
    - Attrition rate is very bad. No seniors left in team. Difficult to find role models within the team
    - Although not so important for me, out cost cutting is very evident in the outings and parties.

    Advice to Management

    - Where to begin with, leadership is focused on numbers only. Not on quality/diversity of work done.
Senior management badly lacks leadership skills. Very demotivating environment to work. Most of the people will leave within 2 yr. High time to change senior management.
    - Hire experienced people. Diversify skills within the team. Push managers to get long term quality work.
    - Have regular checkpoints for upward feedback. It should not be one time affair.
    - Counsellors plays very important role. Please provide regular trainings to them. Most of them are too busy with work they hardly make any justification as Counsellors. People are facing retaliation if they change counsellors.

No recognition plus the managers lacks the management skills.

    Advice to Management

Go for the offer if you are not part of Deloitte support services.

    Pros

    Brand value
Diverse opportunities to perform multiple roles
    Salary and perks
    Flashy parties / celebrations

    Cons

Absolutely zero employee care and work life balance.
Once deployed in a client place you need to manage everything. No one will back you up
Finance system is pathetic. Claims are disbursed 1-2 months later
Nil coordination and collaboration among employees.
    Heavy attrition

    Advice to Management

Take care of the reasons mentioned under "cons" if you want to retain talent. Else people would use Deloitte as a hopping place to enhance their package and move to another company.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There use to be Work From Home option which was good but now even that is not available.Max 4 days in a month, that too after approval.

    Cons

Project assigned not according to your skill but you will get whatever is available.
Promotion depends on almost everything else than your performance.
    Too much of office politics
I am not sure how to frame this better. Higher management on the floor is biggest nuisance. They laugh like demons. Higher your rank, vicious is the laugh.high pitched conversations, vicious laughs and that too on open floor (not confined to the offices).

    Advice to Management

You have all the power but still not responsible for anything.I
have worked with MNCs before and liked working with them because of better working environment, culture, maturity.
You have made me rethink if it is true for all Multinationals or was i lucky.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work from home as per Deloitte policy
    DELOITTE policies (not ITS Canada)

    Cons

    ( ITS Canada)
    Lots of internal politics
Policies are changed as per leaders needs
Almost all senior leadership blindly following their boss orders
    Worst service line to work
    No work life balance
11 am to 11 PM hell

    Advice to Management

    DELOITTE as company is good.
But these kind of leaders are misusing the policies. HR team work for leaders but not for the company.
