I have been working at Deloitte (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible working opportunities are great here - working from home is encouraged and very open conversations about work life balance

    Cons

Permanent contracts are few and far between - as much as the culture and agile working keeps you there would be good to have more security

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Incredibly talented colleagues
    - Ownership over career progression
    - Pension scheme
    - Challenging client engagements, with ability to change clients/projects to keep things fresh
    - Conservative, risk-adverse approach to bidding on and delivering client engagements
    - Autonomy to build new firm propositions and take to market
    - Learning and development investment by the firm is high
    - Commitment to gender, racial and sexual equality
    - Agile working
    - New career pathways provide better targets and incentives for those who aren't interested a traditional "advisory" career path

    Cons

    - Work/life balanace is sometimes difficult to acheive when looking to progress your career in such a competitive environment
    - Bonuses are very poor (mind you, other benefits are very competitive)

    Advice to Management

    - Bonuses need to be significantly improved
    - Partner ambitions to build new capabilities in different areas of the firm need to be more strongly managed to avoid overlap and internal political issues
    - Take more short term financial hits through investment in building long term capabilities

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Clear career progression and great exposure to large clients at a senior level. Very easy to take training and generally accommodating to where you want your career to go.

    Cons

Very hierarchical...working your way through junior ranks can feel slow, with menial tasks pushed to the bottom. Some people love the clear and stable path to senior leadership, but it can feel like your next 20 years is just mapped out ahead of you.

    Advice to Management

Don't get left behind with shift in work culture...and ensure it's consistent across the board. Everyone has very different experiences, some feel like they are working in the 80s other very much in the present day.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities for progression. Lots of enthusiastic people. Cutting edge of the industry.

    Cons

Long hours! A rat race, constantly having to be better than peers. Often competitive.

    Advice to Management

Support those who are technically good, as well as those who can "talk the talk".

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Prestige, location, client base(listed clients), co-workers work with like minded people. Easy to work with for the most part.
Progression, ACA support, chilled out office, learning curve. Culture, move towards better work life balance.

    Cons

Pay a bit low within the lower ranks. Hours can be tough at times, work can get monotonous if you don’t have a good reason to want to be there.

A lot of people lose motivation once they qualify and leave.

    Advice to Management

Stick to promises, move away from old corporate culture.

Try and persuade qualified accountants to stay by offering better pay/benefits. Too many good people decide to leave.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great and open training and certification opportunities
    - Very bright people to work with and learn from
    - With a bit of networking and luck, there are good travelling opportunities

    Cons

    - Very cliquey and British
    - Performance management is formed around managers' opinion of you, which can be disastrous for people working on longer projects
    - Very poor guidance provided to new starters that did not complete the graduate scheme
    - Pretty much non-existent knowledge management between practices and a poor one within the practices

    Advice to Management

Add functional upwards feedback mechanisms to assess the management and provide lower grade employees a voice

I worked at Deloitte (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Innovative culture that allows you to form an idea and run with it;
    Reasonably 'flat' rank/grade structure
    Gain leadership early

    Cons

Salary is beginning to be less competitive
Culture of doing more with less is creeping in

    Advice to Management

Focus on leadership - many of the very very capable young leaders are exceptionally academic, but lack good solid leadership

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great school to learn and increase your worth.
Working with some great people and clients
    International mobility works good
    Diverse

    Cons

Heavy and corporate. If you don’t play the corporate game, you are out.
Performance management is not transparent and not fair.
People who grow within the company are hugely underpaid.
Lack of strong leadership killed the sense of purpose and community. Sad to see some of the brightest people leaving the team.

    Advice to Management

Admit mistakes and take a decisive action to fix it rather than keep showing “great progress towards our 2020 ambition”. And hope that your people will believe you again.
