I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Deloitte Consulting (SEA) is very focused in growing it's employees and the projects are all very challenging. Lots of travelling for projects required, this is good opportunity for people who likes to travel but can also be bad for people with family.

    Cons

Lots of travelling required, they expect employees to give 110% effort & time. Work life balance can be a problem.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Steep learning curve: You will be expected to know a lot with minimal to NO guidance. Training sessions are just there to please HR with no actual knowledge being imparted. This is a plus because somehow the best employees end up self-learning and excel.

    2. Assistant Managers and below are more humble and friendly. Some are willing to take time to teach new staff who have no experience.

    Cons

    1. Promotions and ratings are very biased. Some under-performing staff were promoted consistently due to having political connections. Some staff who delivered quality work in a timely manner get ignored simply because they are deemed "replaceable".

    2. Job scope is highly inaccurate. You are expected to perform AUDIT work. Yet, somehow managers take advantage of staff below them to do ADVISORY and work that do not appear in the job scope.

    3. Those holding positions above Assistant Managers often refuse to even talk to low-leveled staff and this often creates a lag between reviewing work and work done. This also causes new staff to be demotivated and often under perform.

    4. Human Resources somehow do not value audit staff. They are often ignored and sometimes the leave system has problems as HR leave days and audit booking days could clash.

    Advice to Management

The whole management should re-evaluate why people are leaving Deloitte audit. Everyone knows that the workload is humongous, that goes with the industry. However, having spoken to employees from the other big fours, there are stark differences as to how Deloitte Audit employees are treated from an organisation point of view itself.
