    Some of the best people in the industry work here, the culture is great, very transparent and open. Management really cares.

    Cons

    Deloitte is a huge number of client centered fiefdoms. Is there actually a Deloitte? If you find a fiefdom where you fit it can be a great place... but if you don't find a fiefdom for you quickly, not so good.
    Very numbers driven: content, quality, creativity all take a back seat to numbers

    Advice to Management

    Build more opportunity to create new services. Insisting that everything scale out of the box holds back long term growth.

    A cut-throat, non-stop work environment that develops toughness.
    An unpredictable performance management system that keeps employees alert and on their toes.
    Extra hurdles for minorities, experienced hires and women, motivating them to push for new levels of professional excellence.
    Limited access to cutting-edge technology, encouraging employees to be especially resourceful, patient and tenacious.
    Incompetent senior managers and disengaged partners, ideal for developing an independent, entrepreneurial mindset.

    Cons

    No downsides at all. A great place to work!

    Brand and prestige, good infrastructure to support employees to take the hassle out of day to day work so you can focus on the work

    Cons

    Very hard to move ahead if you are an experienced hire - meaning you weren't a recruit out of college and you joined later in your career- often felt my opinions were discounted. Very cliquish. They also don't do enough to ensure people in leadership positions actually know what it takes to be a leader- you have a lot of people in their mid 30's with insane egos that act like toddlers and are borderline abusive. Absolutely terrible performance management process riddled with bias and a huge effort of time for often inaccurate or terrible results. Organization has no clue where their true talent is and rewards bad behavior.

    Advice to Management

    Have a closer eye on what is happening in the rank and file of the workforce. Your messages are great from the top but not being lived or honored by many of your Principals and Managing Directors. Do something with all of the feedback you are getting- there are very toxic parts of the organization that left to fester will do longterm damage to your brand both to attract and retain good talent and even with your customers- why would people work with you if you can't get your own house in order?

    Pros

    Great flexibility regarding work hours/arrangements; awesome, supportive, inclusive culture; great training; unlimited opportunity. Re benefits: generous PTO, wide range of health insurance choices, wellness benefit $500/year, pension plan (almost unheard of these days)

    Cons

    Very long hours in busy seasons (tax); while this is typical of the field, I worked far more hours/week than with any previous employer. Stingy 401k match- less than any previous employer

    Advice to Management

    Hire more (or seasonal) tax staff- during spring and fall busy seasons we are spread way too thin, up to and including manager level

    Great growth and opportunities. If you are not stuck in a long term project, you can get various experiences

    Work Life balance is not great and travel makes it tougher. Managers relate hours to performance and it is all about your network.

    Pros

    Everyone at Deloitte is very smart and driven. Its a great place to learn and get exposed to a variety of projects. I'm very happy I spent 5 years at Deloitte

    Cons

    Work-life balance is not great. They give us 25+ PTO days to use each year, but my workload does not permit me to use the PTO days.
    Increased use of off-shore employees means that current U.S. based employees are becoming expendable.
    Audit compensation is good not great.
