I worked at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This firm really valued diversity and encouraged a happy workplace. Great people, great culture. People-orientated.

    Cons

I honestly cannot think of any criticisms of my time at Deloitte. The firm is wonderful. However, I did think it would be cool to have a firm wide chirstmas party...

    Advice to Management

Invest more in the legal division. This area is growing and there are a lot of great law graduates who would be keen to work for a company like Deloitte if the legal opportunities were broader.

    Pros

Good opportunity to gain experience with industries and competencies quickly, up skill, undertake training, grow your career growth, and your professional network

    Cons

What you would expect from a large corporate organisation – hierarchical, competitive, slow moving, uninspiring culture

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great culture (as others have mentioned)
    - inspiring and ambitious leaders
    - lots of youth, and lots of growth
    - Deloitte's focus on technology/digital consulting offerings I think have put it in a great position for the near-mid future within Australia

    Cons

    - Low pay (particularly lower end roles). Typically jumping to industry doubles your pay
    - Work life balance is not good
    - The opportunities/growth that is supposed to be the trade-off for low pay in consulting - sometimes they don't come. At the lower end of consulting, this is mostly luck or lack thereof, since you have little influence over sales. This is very dependant on your Partners leading the team
    - Politics, which is basically unavoidable at any large professional organisation, can get frustrating

    Advice to Management

Good intentions are there, but you need to be very careful with politics, favoritism within the team in particular. Everyone is very well aware that we could be getting far more working in industry, so we expect fair opportunities for everyone. Team morale can unravel very very quickly from small things, and then it becomes a snowball of people leaving.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fantastic culture and great people - some truly excellent leaders who really care about their staff
Access to lots of specialists to solve client issues
    Genuinely interesting work

    Cons

Capabilities are variable across the firm's different units
Partner model creates unnecessary politics and is a barrier to collaboration
Can be very bureaucratic with too little support to navigate behemoth internal processes

    Advice to Management

Find a way to reduce the red tape and incentivise better collaboration - we work better with our clients than with each other at times!
