I worked at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Name looks good on your CV, you will learn at first but that will quickly fade out and mostly be how to know when your being screwed over by a partner or director.

    Cons

Deloitte is a big con, they basically take bright young grads and work them into the ground and then spit them out without even a thank you. I've see some of the worst bullying behaviors from the superposed senior leadership team and trust me this behavior flows down hill as to how Directors and Manager act. Avoid.

    Advice to Management

cull the partners who contribute little other than negativity in the work force - act like a professional services company rather than play school.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The sink or swim approach to staff from the partnership forces you to adapt to the poorly managed environment. Sometimes you get praised for hard work, Deloitte name on your CV, Travel can be fun but be prepared to give up your own time rather than work time for flights - you will not get recognised for this.

    Cons

Poor Pay, lack of leadership, Sink or swim / carrot and stick approach - you never ever get the carrot. Constant revolving door of staff – massive staff retention issues which the partners choose to ignore, some think its "good"

My advice would be to avoid joining Risk Advisory.

    Advice to Management

Risk Advisory has failed, fold into consulting. Get rid of the physio Partners – you know who they are, they are destroying the brand

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Some smart people, especially partners.

    Cons

There is absolutely no transparency in salary at Deloitte, and when I accidentally found out a less senior male colleague (white) was paid $10k more than I was (Asian female), I asked for a raise. The request was refused and subsequently left, after 8 years with the company.

    Advice to Management

Fix your gender equality issues. Close the pay gap as promised by the CEO.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time

    Pros

Smart bunch of people, good name to have on CV. Great place for networking and make friends.

    Cons

Toxic work environment. Terrible middle management whom had no idea what she is doing. She only got the job because her husband is a good friend of the head of department.

    Advice to Management

Deloitte is a people business, make it more about the people. We are more than a number. Treat your employees with respect.

I have been working at Deloitte (More than a year)

    Pros

The office is nice I suppose.

    Cons

    * Forced annual leave over xmas
    * Salaries are 25-30% under market rates
    * Review system restricts advancement and salary increase to once a year, with no opportunity to review colleagues or managers
    * Progression is geared towards social climbing rather than achievement (i.e. High School)
    * Much talk of profits, yet it is never passed on to employees
    * Join at the wrong time and you'll be waiting 18 months for even a sniff at advancement.

    Advice to Management

    * Be honest at recruitment stage about salary expectations

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get the brand name 'Deloitte' placed on your resume but their good corporate reputation is not deserved.

    Cons

Your impressions of Deloitte changes dramatically once you commence employment. There is no time for chatter or social interaction of any kind with other staff members because everybody is too busy and stressed out after working a 12 hour day. For some reason Partners are treated like gods and you are constantly under daily surveillance from Directors pressuring you with unrealistic work loads within deadlines that are ridiculous. Deloitte are stingy and no budget is provided, meaning you are under resourced most of the time. After working hard all year you get to Christmas and the entire department is still working till 6pm on Christmas eve. Then comes performance review time where you hope to get a pay rise for your hard earned efforts. Deloitte is well known to order management to "make up" under performance issues to avoid any pay rises for its top performing staff. It also helps at Deloitte if you are a 'yes' man or woman, especially at middle management level - the last thing that upper management wants is someone that actually has an opinion and has the courage to express it! Oh and the so called corporate credit card, well you have to take that out in your own name and you are out of pocket for a month until Deloitte pays you back your work expenses.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at the lack of work life balance placed on staff and then ask why staff turnover is rife. For an organisation that does very well financially, how about paying competitive salaries.
