I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Renowned experience that is recognized in the job market. It's been said that every year spent with Deloitte is the equivalent of three years spent in private industry.

    Cons

Fast-paced environment that can be hard to keep up with during the busiest of times. It is also very easy to become disillusioned from the purpose of the firm, but the key is keeping an open mind and connecting with superiors.

    Advice to Management

Stress to managers the importance of fostering a welcoming, team environment for staff.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary, good focus on employee development, good bonus structure, ability to move around and try different projects, a lot of PTO

    Cons

Yearly reviews are subjective and don't accurately reflect performance throughout the year, a lot of competition at the analyst and consultant level,

    Advice to Management

I wouldn't change too much - people who work for Deloitte know what they're getting into. It's a fast paced environment that isn't for everyone, but some will thrive in it

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great exposure and opportunities
    High skilled and motivated people
There is clear indication from executive management to improve employment conditions and provide better experiences and coaching for younger employees

    Cons

Depending on the size of an office, employees in a resource sense are treated as a collective pool and can be sourced throughout various offices.

    Advice to Management

Focus on engagement staff processes that keep local employees in local markets. There are many instances where individuals will travel to a different office when there are resource needs within their own local area.

I have been working at Deloitte as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent leadership, technology, and workspace.

    Cons

As an intern, managers throw you into the fire but help you along the way.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing.

I have been working at Deloitte (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great culture with motivated people. Compensation is good and the benefits are better. I like to travel, so the travel is nice at times.

    Cons

Long hours during certain parts of the year. If you don't like to travel then working in audit at Deloitte may be difficult.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-You get to work on interesting projects with high level executives at top tier clients
-Your peers are all super smart and talented individuals
-Great internal culture. One that truly cares about it's employees
-Deloitte University is one of the best training facilities in the world
-Pay is great and top talent is rewarded handsomely

    Cons

-Like any consulting firm, work life balance is not great. Deloitte really tries but at the end of the day if you're staffed on a project work comes first
-Some Senior Manager's are notorious for knowing they're burning out their staff on projects but only caring about hitting their numbers. A smaller number of Partners are the same way

    Advice to Management

-Continue to focus on finding a balance for employee's work life balance and you'll continue to be rewarded with loyal staff who call Deloitte home for years to come

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good exposure to leadership
    - Steep learning curve
    - Exposure to different industries and consulting toolkit

    Cons

    - Hierarchical growth/career trajectory (based on # of years rather than impact)
    - Variable pay/bonus still around 15-20% for top performers (no where near that for other strategy consulting firms)

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    -You get paid pretty well
-Get to work with (mostly) very smart and talented people
-Have the potential to work with many different clients, learn from each experience
-The Brand is excellent and carries a lot of repute
-Growth opportunities are there but depend on your network

    Cons

-Pissing the wrong people off can ruin your career
-Travel can take a toll on work-life balance
-Constant focus on networking builds a culture where knowing the right people is more important than doing good work
    - Performance Management can be unfair if your counselor does not have have requisite clout

    Advice to Management

Realize that everyone is different and that a bell curve isn't the best way to measure performance. The bell curve forces a 'rat race' where everyone is trying to keep up with their peers (who they are measured against). Folks with children/dependents end up having to sacrifice family time because they are trying to keep up with people who don't similar personal commitments. Let practitioners set a personal goal and reward them based on how well they are able to meet that.

I have been working at Deloitte (Less than a year)

    Pros

Online training programs, technology and compensation

    Cons

Limited quality of life and little to no career support for experienced hires. Employees are left to fend for themselves to stay engaged. Instead of working with and developing employees, the firm is quick to terminate employees who don't immediately meet engagement expectations.

One personal example of the breakdown in management - on my first day in the office after orientation in Chicago, I showed up to the Pittsburgh office and no one had any idea who I was or that I'd be starting that day. I had no badge for a week and no direction whatsoever - things didn't get much better from there.

    Advice to Management

Take more responsibility for integration and development of new employees.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Deloitte is a good place to work, people are awesome to work with. Beginner salaries can be a bit low. (which is expected. It takes some time to build credibility in the Consulting business)

    Cons

There is intense competition, especially during targeted promotion/milestone years. There can be some backstabbing. It's part of the experience. It is not as bad as it sounds, and seems manageable.

    Advice to Management

I have high regards for the Senior Management in this company. I think they are the market leaders in the industry, especially with their consistent high standards.
