I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Modern, forward thinking and progressive. Prepared to invest in staff on both a professional and personal level.

    Cons

Ultimately a partnership which means that a majority of staff will not have any ownership in the company. As a partnership the financial success is not always passed down fairly.

    Advice to Management

Ensure rewards are always fairly distributed across all staffing levels

I have been working at Deloitte full-time

    Pros

    Good network and fantastic opportunities

    Cons

Long hours and little support when busy

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff and do more to help those already working there

    Pros

You get exposed to lots of other companies and can get a breadth of experience quite quickly. Looks good on your CV. Great attitude to remote working when not needed on client sites.

    Cons

Bonuses are not worth the effort required. Employee deals can be easily beaten with groupon etc. Easy to get caught up in the 'always connected' issue and end up working well outside normal hours.

    Advice to Management

Avoid dragging others into working outside business hours, not everyone shares your drive for promotion.

I have been working at Deloitte (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Transparent promotion, feedback and salary information internally, lots of opportunities for development, early responsibility and good training. Culture of innovation. Mostly helpful and friendly colleagues who are very bright and knowledgeable and really good to work with. Genuinely encourage flexible working and trusting people with their work. Common to work 4 days and/or from home say 1 day a week, or different work patterns.

    Cons

Definitely an element of politics and playing the game/being seen to be saying the right things, especially to progress. Obviously challenging and pressured as a job. Although officially more inclusive, often still quite an 'up or out' culture, not suitable for someone who just wants to do their job 9-5:30 and go home (less relevant in admin/secretarial roles). Work life balance good for a relatively high pressured job due to flexibility and support but not great relative to vast majority of jobs. Busy periods often 50h per week or more, occasionally 60h. Usually 40-45hs.

    Advice to Management

Already do a lot to get feedback from employees. Some partners could do with listening more and taking time for feedback/people (varies). Need to get better at communicating leavers of the firm rather than people guessing/Chinese whispers.

I worked at Deloitte as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sociable in its character within the workplace, but also large enough for clear progression

    Cons

Only interned briefly, so cannot be certain of progression

    Advice to Management

    Keep at it

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very Professional organisation, very successful. Consulting and Digital businesses really growing and pushing boundaries. Good time to join the Firm

    Cons

Excellent in service lines it considers as "innovation" service lines, but, career limiting in transactional service lines (tax and audit) as they are cost driven

    Advice to Management

In the next 10 years Deloitte needs to grow the Partnership to meet both the growth plans and replace the Partners approaching retirement age. This should be a massive opportunity, but, this is no apparent focus and drive by the Firm to address this internally and in the market as yet.

    Pros

Excellent study support, although a lot of pressure (fail twice and you have to leave the company, bad fail once and you have to leave the company)
    Great social scene
Loads of opportunities to progress in your area or do secondments to other areas
    Bright, driven colleagues
Excellent name to have on your CV
Will be given responsibility quickly and be challenged
    Good salary and benefits

    Cons

Work life balance is awful, especially in 'busy season' which is between January and March
Very much a 'be seen to be doing the hours' culture
Audit can involve a lot of long commutes
Pressure is passed down to juniors

    Advice to Management

Don't keep piling work onto strong employees until they leave

I worked at Deloitte as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Real responsibilities - my work was used in both internal training and client presentation
Learning a lot about numerical analysis such as cost projections or stocks manipulation
Knowledge on UK and International personal tax matters
Work with a wide range of projects from EMEA coordination to personal advises

    Cons

Can be really repetitive durng your first years
Not much interns could do as we lacked knowledge about tax regulations in the first place
3 weeks is really short for an internship

    Advice to Management

pre-internship reading on Tax regulations would help OR a longer duration for internship with a longer training period
