    Pros

Great company to work for as there are a lot of opportunities to help expand your career and understanding of tax

    Cons

It is sometimes hard to get time off during the busy seasons but this is expected in the industry and accounting

    I worked at Deloitte full-time

    Pros

no pros really othan than being able to add Deloitte's name to my resume.

    Cons

Title says it all. GES in San Diego has the worst management and senior management. One of the senior managers is even racist and will absolutely let you know how he feels about you.

    Advice to Management

Search for better people who are more capable of being in managerial positions.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ambitious young college students are tricked into thinking big 4 is the best place to start your career. At least for Deloitte, this is true for two reasons only: 1) gives great experience to build your resume and makes you desirable to future employers and 2) gives you a benchline of what NOT to look for in your next job.
One good thing is that you spend so much time with your coworkers commiserating over how awful your life is, you end up with some pretty great friends

    Cons

Pay is awful, benefits are pretty standard (not amazing like they lead you to believe), work life "fit" is a joke, coworkers/bosses/HR are immature gossips (myself included!), your needs/wants are rarely considered and will be ridiculed in private, no one cares about your professional development except you.
Get a few years in and then get out!! Finish one year of manager at the most!!

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees. It might make them actually want to work hard for you

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Young, motivated teams. Exposure to anything and everything accounting. Surrounded by smart professionals. Deloitte University is amazing!

    Cons

Working a lot makes it difficult to study for the CPA Exam. No life at all from December through March. Hard to find time to balance work and life.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Great networking opportunity as the majority of the people you start with will become close friends with the majority of them taking positions outside of Deloitte within 3 years.
    2. Offices in every major US and worldwide city. I was able to transfer after my first year to basically any city in the US that I wanted to without much of a reason.

    Cons

    1. The hours, the hours, the hours. Public Accounting in general wants you to believe that it is normal to work long hours. This is a lie. You aren't lucky when you have a 60 hour/week busy season, that's still 20 hours more than a normal work week.
    2. The client experience is so different from client to client that two people that start at the exact same time will have completely different experiences at Deloitte, and sadly as staff we have very little say in how we manage our career in the first few years. The company likes to say you can manager your career, and is very open to listening.... but the reality is that the majority of the staff and seniors stay less than 3 years and once people start leaving the firm has positions that they need to fill and those that stay get stuck on those clients that they didn't want to be on.

    Advice to Management

They absolutely need to solve the problem of the lack of Seniors across the firm. More people leave in there first year as a senior that at any other point, and when an engagement loses seniors it puts added pressure on the rest of the staff that is more likely to cause them to want to leave the firm.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Training opportunities if you seek them out
    - Decent time-off

    Cons

    - Salaries aren't competitive enough for amount of work you do
    - Horrible management
    - Completely useless HR -- they are really only there to cover the company and don't care about employees at all. Very similar to most of management.
    - Unsavory company practices -- if you have a conscience at all, this is not the place for you.

    Advice to Management

During my time at Deloitte, every person in my orientation class has left the company. Every person had a horrible experience at Deloitte and anyone I've spoken to since my time at Deloitte has expressed similar feelings. Management has no leadership qualities and are only looking to make more money for the company so they have a good number to put on their performance evaluation.
