I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I strongly believe that you just cannot go wrong starting your accounting or tax career at a Big-4 accounting firm. Deloitte provides the best training you'll probably ever receive in your professional career and sets you up for success.

    Cons

As with all Big-4 the hours are rough.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people. Great experience. Great opportunities. Management truly cares about you as an individual.

    Cons

Turnover is too common. PPMDs always dangling a carrot making it easy to feel trapped.

    Advice to Management

Differentiate pay-grades, raises and bonuses to retain top talent.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

PTO, PTO , and liberal swipes of the AMEX.

    Cons

    The hours, expectations, and culture.

    Advice to Management

People are more productive when they are happy and working regular hours. The marginal productivity of each employee sharply declines after 8 hours. The company would be better off hiring seasonal employees (i.e., more people, larger teams/staff) during busy season, or even giving employees the option of being hourly.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the people that I worked with and I truly believe that Deloitte is willing to invest in its people.

    Cons

I was on the audit side, and when there are deadlines to meet, the hours can go up. I do think they are trying to create a better work life balance during those times, but it's a work in progress.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and remember that changes really start from the top down.

Nice people, opportunities to learn and prove yourself

    Cons

Long hours, some managers aren't smart and got promoted just for years spent in the company

I worked at Deloitte (More than a year)

    Pros

As with any Big 4 Firm, the experience gained was very valuable to start a career. As an auditor, the work environment was ever changing which was nice. Good culture with a majority of young professionals.

    Cons

Again, as with any Big 4 Firm, the hours, especially during busy season, were less than desirable. Job satisfaction is highly dependent on the other members of your engagement team. Higher than average stress level. More concerned with the bottom line rather than the employees which are responsible for generating Firm revenue.

    Advice to Management

Realistic or not, try to be more considerate of employees and implement ways to reduce the stress level (even if working long hours is ultimately inevitable.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exposure to high-profile clients in industry. Firm invests in training its people. Flexibility to work remote when needed.

    Cons

Questioning why you wanted to be auditor in the first place, realizing there are limited opportunities to branch into more cerebral and strategic career path (consulting/M&A/banking).

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company has great resources from the initial on-boarding program, to on-going learning facility (DU), technology, technical support, travel support and upper management willing to invest in you at an early stage. Additionally, company is very competent at recruiting not only top candidates, but candidates that fit their environment. All of these factors create help make a stressful work environment positive and fun.

    Cons

While there has been an emphasis on work-life fit in the last few years, they can only do so much as at the end of the day it's client facing work with tight deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work on work-life fit. Additionally, put more an emphasis on engagement planning and staffing planning to even work loads and create stable teams.
