I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Large company and lots of exposure to all different sorts of work. They value their employees and invest a significant amount of time and money into their growth.

    Cons

Often times can become a small fish in a big pond, performance review and compensation system are viewed on a large scale basis so it's easy to get lost in the weeds.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

opportunities for advancement, great teams, flexibility, good benefits

    Cons

Insane culture. If you work in fed space you can be limited in number of hours and not meet utilization meaning you can’t take time off. Additionally, it is impossible to move into different areas if your partner or SM don’t want you to.

    Advice to Management

Give people the opportunity to chose their work instead of locking them down into something they have no interest in for the rest of their Deloitte career and don’t take it personally when they decide to leave as a result.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people; great opportunities; great training; perfect place to start a career; huge alumni network

    Cons

Fundamentally, Deloitte faces the same challenge as all Big4 or major consultancies: to succeed in the long term, your career must become your life.

    Pros

Great company to begin your career. Good exposure in work engagements and numerous client facing opportunities early in the career. Benefits are excellent.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Wide range of opportunities, prestige, room for advancement, leadership generally open to change and responsive to criticism. Certainly no worse than any other large accounting firm, maybe better.

    Cons

Salary lags a bit and seems only to rise significantly if you threaten to leave or are brought on as an experienced hire. Despite the wide range of opportunities, it's easy to get stuck on a particular project.

    Advice to Management

Reduce turnover by increasing salaries. Student loan repayment assistance wouldn't hurt either.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can choose who you work with, even though finding the right people will not be easy.

    Cons

Company is not transparent about how promotions work (reality is totally different from what is represented during training). Counselor system is useless because the counselors are looking out for the interests of the partner they work for instead of the person they are counseling.

    Advice to Management

The way senior managers are rated on their ability to ‘build a bench’ for promotion to partner severely distorts the messaging to lower level employees about how they should manage their careers. You’re not going to be able to keep high performers if you force lower ranking employees to brown-nose jaded senior managers in order to get promoted. Also, the level of surveillance of employee sentiment is creepy and creates a negative feedback loop where employees feel like the quality of their work is less important than how much they drink the Deloitte punch. Unfortunately, you recruit a lot of people who value authenticity too much to settle for this type of culture.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are an enormous amount of resources at your disposal at Deloitte, from training at Deloitte University, to a huge network of some of the best and brightest in the world. Furthermore, Deloitte's alumni network is extremely far-reaching.

    Cons

While they preach "Work Life Balance", there is often a large demand for long work weeks, especially during busy season. This is not unusual for the Big 4, but it seems to burn a lot of people out. From what I saw, a lot of people, myself included, will work there for a handful of years to gain experience then move on to a job with a real work-life balance.
