    Cons

    Advice to Management

Keep engaging with the folks on the ground.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

One of the best places to start your career
Challenging work if you enjoy problem solving
If you hate your project / work, there's usually still an end to it (rather than quitting if you have a regular job with the same work / boss)
Good compensation / pension plan when you finally make it to P/PMD level
Good for stability if you are a decent performer
Work life balance if you are on a good project

    Cons

Raises are probably mediocre at best
Project delivery is the most important thing for us (and client) as consultants, but that contribution to our core business don't seem to matter as much at year end
Lots of admin tasks taking up a significant amount of time - and only impacts negatively to your performance if you don't do them - most notably the staffing system which replaced a working system (for the end user - probably not for reporting) with a worse one
Burning time with varying level of use of the term "Productive Time" - wait.. did I say burning time which we were not supposed to years ago?
Firm contribution is a big part of your job, may be not so much in other parts of the firm (can't speak for all the practices) but expect to spend an extra 200 - 300 hours doing "impactful" firm activities if you are in Consulting so they don't ding you for not doing it
Performance system was kinda broken but progressively got worse (from Supporting Success to the latest iRPM). And it's increasingly more about checking the boxes above, and then who you know (the system is broken right? so we went back to the most effective method!) and don't know. People get screwed along the way because they are not as well connected or if they are not the best at networking
Up or out mentality when you get to the management level, we don't do a good job retaining people who are really good at doing what they do at their current level and find a place for them
With all these points above, work-life balances, while it's there, requires you to be absolutely vocal and make sure you don't get on a bad project / stretch

    Advice to Management

Fix the performance and compensation system or just do away with it. It's a waste of time if utilization, firm contribution, and then networking is all that matters
Find a way to keep people who are not P/PMD or possibly even SM personality and find a way to still have them perform, contribute, and grow in the firm

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place if you are starting your career right out of college and learn the Deloitte ways and you will succeed

One of the Big 5 consulting companies, which lays great emphasis on quality and developing methodologies.

The firm has made considerable efforts to manage work-life balance and allow flexibility in travel routines

    Cons

A very clan based company. The fresh grads who grow in the company (Senior Consultant or lower) have a much greater possibility of success vs experienced hires who join mid-stream.

The above could be good for strategy projects and not for the real world projects, where real world experience matters and not just the home grown experience

    Advice to Management

Recognize experienced hires, experience they bring and provide them opportunities and leverage their experience and not always the network/home grown. Also the review system allows a carte blanche to the counselors and the leadership without any onus on the leadership.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with some of the largest and most successful global enterprises, generally interesting projects, results can often be directly seen and quantified, generally good people around you, and the work-life balance is better than most people want to admit.

    Cons

The technology side of consulting does far less technology than expected, senior management can be extremely difficult to work with, and it is a sales oriented environment - once a project is secured, leaders immediately focus on the next opportunity. Promotions and advancement are solely driven by one of two factors - one, you are close or aligned to a senior leader and you are under their wing, or two, you are selling work. New members of the company are at a severe disadvantage.

    Advice to Management

Move beyond the subject and personality driven review process, improve technology focus and capabilities, institute a program to help new members of the firm to find the right fit.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Broad experiences within your field, Opportunity to make a good income at a young age, Flexibility to step up and lead if you're willing

    Cons

Work Life Balance, Lots of management that can make a pretty powerpoint but limited in depth experience, Year end and project ratings very subjective

    Advice to Management

Take care of your top performers with higher salaries. The motivation to stay with the firm after years of top performance is lacking due to the knowledge that someone would be hired from the outside with a higher salary.

    Pros

Great opportunity only if you have a great network.
    Opportunity to learn professional branding.
Personal and Professional Growth is encouraged.

    Cons

To great of a focus on contributions to the firm, even at client expense.
    No real work life balance.
Upper Management do not recognize the strains and stresses of staff.

    Advice to Management

I would say, to learn how to listen to the staff, whether Analyst to Sr. Manager, on their suggestions on supporting their needs. The consultant staff is the front line to the client. Without focused support, revenue could suffer from morale issues and retention problems.
