I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    There are some genuine people

    Cons

Worst Deloitte office ever! I trained with Deloitte and the culture was great, progression clear and senior management supportive. I moved to the Birmingham office 2 years ago and Deloitte as been the worst thing to ever happend to me; long hours, no recognition, no clear path for progression, partners were 2 faced and not supportive, your own teams gossip about you incl. partners, you are treated like a resource and not like a human who has feelings and your voice is never heard. If planning to move to Birmingham, definately choose another Big 4. I left and zero regrets. Worst 2 years of my life

    Advice to Management

Invest in your people. People make the firm and you neee to keep your best people not give them no option but to leave. I saw some great talent leavinf Deloitte Birmingham which is sad.

    I worked at Deloitte full-time

    Pros

There are still a small and full of good people there

    Cons

Really toxic environment where being pushed under the bus is a daily occurrence. All the good leadership have left and all that's left is heavy sales targets on current management which lets face is just don't cut it. When revenues are down (hint hint) you will be managed out or just fired for a bogus reason like a lot of people have been in the past

    Advice to Management

To Deloitte leadership disband that function it will ruin the Deloitte brand

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some great people work there but unfortunately rarely in senior management

    Cons

    - Lowest paid of the Big Four
    - Terrible uncollaborative, dog-eat-dog culture
    - Expectation that everyone will work many more hours than contracted, and if you don't you lose out on advancement opportunities
    - Casual workplace bullying is the norm here

    Advice to Management

Hire enough people that the job gets done in their allotted hours, or start paying overtime.

    Pros

    Advice to Management

none, they don't listen, that's why I left

    Pros

the sky is the limit in the consulting practice - no one will stop you from doing work that could potentially bring in revenues

    Cons

extremely aggressive culture, not a place people necessarily look forward to coming to everyday

I have been working at Deloitte as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The office windows are locked, so at least no one can jump out.

    Cons

The Ops managers are loathsome cretins. They sack people for fun, walking them out of the office in front of everyone, and have next to no true intelligence outside of creating pivot tables. Complete and utter sociopaths.

Terrible daily rates for Case Handlers (based on the pitiful internal banking systems and poor training)

    Lack of support

Terrible Team Leaders who are chosen because they're "yes" people.

Case Handlers often work 60-70 hour weeks for £120 a day and once every three months someone who probably doesn't deserve the recognition gets given a box of Celebrations. It's insulting. Chocolates? Where are the grown-up bonuses? Spa day, meal out, vouchers, money behind the bar, cash bonus, etc. A tiddly box of chocolates for the life commitment to the project is embarrassing and demeaning.

HR are lovely, but they don't follow any complaints up with sincerity and only look out for Deloitte's interests.

Good people are abused and let go because certain senior members of the tea, are threatened by kindness and intelligence.

Packed in to the office like sardines.

Morale amongst Case Handlers is always low.

    Advice to Management

Too many managers, not enough sense. They get paid a huge daily rate to gossip and throw people under the bus. A Deloitte-run PPI project in London is carrying some serious deadweight across senior management. Stop sacking 20 entry-levels in a day, and start sacking Ops Managers - useless and a drain on company resources. There are wonderful and bright grads working as Case Handlers that get little support and work horrendous hours for peanuts whilst Ops managers and Team Leaders log off at 16:59 and leave people struggling.

    I worked at Deloitte full-time

    Pros

Good location in City, trendy office

    Cons

Exploitative of juniors, 'networks' are the only important thing, not quality of work.

    Advice to Management

Try and be more honest to clients and employees.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    + Unlimited free training available
+ Unlimited social gatherings. You can basically spend every night of the week going to a company social gatherings and get free drinks and food
+ Great opportunity for 100% career driven individuals who want to be at the top of their game
+ Great opportunity to do a lot of travelling worldwide

    Cons

+ Working at Deloitte is not a job, its a complete lifestyle where every moment of your waking life is spent doing something related to Deloitte. Do not think about working at Deloitte if you are looking for a 9-5 job.
+ Exceptionally long hours, frequently working right through the night!
+ Very little direction from your managers...you are expected to be 100% autonomous.
+ Travel 4 days a week. Leave Monday morning and come back Thursday night.
+ Do not think about joining Deloitte unless you are able to sell yourself in a confident manner.
+ It is mostly about your ability to sell a story to your client and your colleagues.
+ Analysts and Consultants do 90% of the work while Senior Management sell stories to clients and colleagues.
+ Partners mostly watch the money roll in.

    Advice to Management

+ What are you doing is obviously working so I would say keep printing that money!

    Pros

Grads start together in a big group so you make friends quickly.
    Free fruit in the office.

    Cons

    Work/life balance.
Lots of travel (which they don't tell you about until you start) and overnight stays, sometimes up to 6 weeks at a time.
Not paid enough for the hours or stress levels.
Treated like children - very patronising as everyone has 'grades' and you are referred to as 'the S1s' or 'the AM1s' around the office.
Very segregated in offices... people stick to who they know, which is pretty sad for the newbies.

    Advice to Management

Be more clear of the pros and cons during recruitment. Try to make the teams more inclusive.
