I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Allows a degree of autonomy

    Cons

Macho arrogance applauded. Ridiculous promotion processes force competition and back stabbing. Ageism and sexism rife. Rewards selling and ignores ability. Flawed brief they can deliver as well as advise. Insane growth targets.

    Advice to Management

Take a long hard look at yourselves and shed the 80s attitudes before you trip up.

    Pros

    Lot of learning opportunities
    Helpful fellow team members
    Great work life balance
    Lots of dinners and parties

    Cons

    Very political
All work depends on personal relationships

    Advice to Management

Improve training and interaction with other Deloitte members across the form and across the regions. More Partner and Staff engagement

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

International and national travel opportunities and working for some household names. Work hard and play hard culture.

    Cons

Very long hours particularly during busy season. Not the best paying amongst the Big4. Retention issues with most people leaving as soon as they qualify.

    Advice to Management

    Pay quals more

I worked at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for, that looks impressive on CV. Generally good hours for an Analyst. Meet a lot of new people with a similar mindset.

    Cons

Difficult managing exams with work and a normal social life. Be sure this is a career you want to be in before you join, as choosing to leave as I did can be costly. (contract).

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong deal flow, access to a range of resources, implied working flexibility, good training platform with a good reputation (if you're in the right team)

    Cons

The work flexibility proposed by the company doesn't apply in M&A. Typically working over 65 hours p/w before weekends and without lunches and gym sessions etc. Pay is very poor. Only worth staying if you want to make partner or use it as a training platform.

    Advice to Management

Allow more flexibility around pay structures. Paying everyone per banding is geared towards a public service environment and doesn't reward the harder workers. Also, more than one pay review period per year should be applied - again there should be flexibility here.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - leadership promote innovation
    - lots of great clients
    - not the same as the rest of Deloitte (suits, ties, stereotypical consultants). Much more of a studio feel
    - will always pay for your training and exams
    - fantastic place to start / grow your career

    Cons

    - salaries don't reflect competitor salaries (as they know people "will want to work for Deloitte")
    - lots of mandatory corporate training and ever evolving performance management processes

    Advice to Management

    - carry on doing what you're doing, except:
    - the career curve needs to feel more linear. Currently it's got a very exponential feel, which means valuable people that don't want to be Directors and Partners will not be rewarded enough to stay
