I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    (FOR CONSULTING)
One of the best IT support and handling I've known and worked with (even relating to other people's experience with competitors)
Easy to develop yourself there and robust training (online and virtual)
Professional development (soft skills) is wonderful
Its easy to have a work family here. People tend to look out for each other
You sucked in your last project? If you're not fired and depending on your office, its not hard to do better and start on a clean slate (i was there)

    Cons

VERY VERY people oriented. Which isn't bad, but Deloitte is an odd mix of a people-cracy and meritocracy. It's not for everyone. You must do well at work and at relating to people
The performance review system is HIGHLY unbalanced and very subjective. If you don't have the best relationship with your reviewer, you're toast. If you do, then you well off...Which is the same everywhere, but @ deloitte only 4 questions are used to determine this at "snapshots" and they are very, very subjective. There's no way to defend why YOU the reviewed person are where you are. Also it's not a 2 way review and you cannot see your reviews. It's weird
Sometimes they hire without knowing what they are going to do with the hire. Basically hire based on skill not work need (from my experience talking with new hires)

It's easy to be left out of the loop and then never recover from being left out (like an inside clique)

I'd love to come back to this later...I have my issues with the firm

    Advice to Management

You keep harping about "utilization" yet you guys hire very qualified people and they end up leaving because you don't have where to put them or you promise to put them somewhere and internal politics get in the way. I am not a new hire, but new hires who aren't campus recruits should be treated better.

Please overhaul the review system. Its unfair and highly subjective.DPME (the old 2 way street review system) was tedious, but at least it was fair by getting to see the substantiation behind decisions make about your life at Deloitte. You can do better.

Keep up the good work in other areas. I really do think this is a great firm (I know it is cuz I've worked with 2 of the Big 4) I overall think this is a cool place to work and practitioners definitely leave being positively changed people.

    Pros

Deloitte offers its employees great career development opportunities, including many resources to teach you to be everything you can be.

    Cons

You will find yourself swimming in what I think of as shark-infested waters, with few you can trust. There are multiple parallel efforts going on due to competition.

    Pros

    Cons

Male dominated leadership, internal client work glorified over client work, long hours, very project specific

    Pros

Phenomenal place to launch your career! Deloitte's internal learning programs enable practitioners to gain the knowledge and skills needed to outperform other consulting firms.

    Cons

Poor work-life balance. Deloitte works better for those who are single with no children. Aside from client work, you're also expected to contribute to internal initiatives to advance the firm's capability offerings. This is where practitioners become drained and burned out.

    Advice to Management

Hire technical writers to write proposals. Practitioners do not have enough proposal writing skills nor time. This why the proposal process often becomes a glorified editing experience.

I have been working at Deloitte (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn, Soak in what you can from the good managers and learn what not to do from the bad ones, Will be placed in a lot of different projects so you gain a versatile toolbox

    Cons

People tend to be robotic because you're always selling yourself, both internally and to clients. They tend to throw you to the wolves at first, Resource managers are terrible at matching positions with skills.

    Advice to Management

Rethink you asset deployment model. It makes people miserable when they are forced to do work they aren't suited for or interested in.

I have been working at Deloitte (Less than a year)

    Pros

The firm continues to effectively recruit smart talent, so it is likely that you'll work with high performing colleagues.

Great place to start a career.

    Cons

Work hour is ridiculous. There is no such thing as work-life balance. It is deeply embedded into the corporate culture.

Not the most ideal place to grow your career.

    Advice to Management

Stop burning out your talent! This is absolutely toxic for the firm. It costs money and resources that can otherwise can be saved.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The expectations are high and you will have the opportunity to work on challenging firm engagements apart from any client work. The pay package is on the higher side of the industry. Great team culture. Provides good opportunities for networking.

    Cons

You are pretty much on your to find new engagements through networking. The company does have resource managers but never got any help from them

    Advice to Management

The company should have an effective framework to help employees find new engagements rather than expect them find opportunities via networking. Though networking is good, it may be difficult for them to build network while working on client engagements. Also, the pressure to work on firm engagements need to be eased.
