I worked at Deloitte as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Strong teamwork and efficient work pace. I was an intern of the group doing strategy consulting for a federal department, and the manager as well as the consultants are experienced and enlightening.

    Cons

Staffing is too tight so all team members has to work overtime all the time, but this is a very common scene for consulting firms. Not a very good place to have a work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Overall a very efficient management system. The partnership in each industry could well stimulate work passion and efficiency.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazingly smart people. Relatively easy to try out new / different areas. Way to succeed in the organization is to build a core network that you invest in and they invest back in you

    Cons

Despite the leadership changes there are not very many women in leadership positions or support for women to grow in the organization
Work life balance is better and some partners are better at implementing it than others.

    Advice to Management

The operating model is moving more and more towards letting the people 'swim or sink'. The focus is subtly but definitely shifting from grooming resources to 'swim or sink' mentality

    Pros

The firm invests in your growth, even with the knowledge that most junior practitioners will leave within a few years. Mandatory trainings, opportunities to interact with senior clients, and lean project teams allow you to learn a ton, if you find the right opportunities and projects.

    Cons

Huge firm-- lots of internal politics and inefficiencies. Many projects are traditional contracting assignments, not strategy and management consulting.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up with the junior practitioner growth and development.

"Great Company, Lots of "Mandatory Fun" Required to Be Successful"

    Pros

Inclusive culture - responsible leadership that actually spoke out boldly against the recent Orlando shootings and police brutality incidents in the US. Great benefits and easy to use wellness program that encourages physical fitness.Great flexibility allows maximization of paid time off and for people to work when it makes sense for them and their clients. Great Orientation program that immediately helps build the much needed networks.

    Cons

This is a great company with great programs and great benefits; however, when I was told in my interview that "this is not a 40-hour per week job," I thought my interviewer was referring to actual client work. I soon realized that while you may have projects that exceed that, it is mostly the expectation to join and deliver impact on additional activities, including proposals, internal projects events and attending many happy hours, coffee chats and other meals with various levels of the company. On one hand this culture makes senior leadership very accessible, but on the other, it takes some of the emphasis off the importance of actual work or client delivery. The new performance management system is somewhat of a joke around the firm and many of us, including managers don't understand how or what we're being rated on. The consensus is that the word "leading" keeps coming up -- yet only formal leadership titles are being recognized and not when you've stepped up and taken the lead on initiatives. Like I said it is a great firm, but the culture definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea.

    Advice to Management

Recognize leading quietly as well as leading formally. Provide better training and counseling for new managers or those up for promotion. Many. many awful managers cloud the great things about the firm.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, smart colleagues, and lots of growth opportunities. The firm has high standards and treats you as an adult from day 1.

    Cons

Work-life balance was a challenge with attending to both client demands (45 hours a week) and making contributions to firm initiatives

    Pros

The company provides good benefits. Healthcare premium is pretty low. Employees get lots of holidays and PTO.

    Cons

The company gives the employees a lot of Training. Some of the online training may be irrelevant to your industry

    Advice to Management

Please provide spend more time training the analysts. They can get lost with Deloitte system on the first month

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Deloitte truly invests in its people for learning and growth opportunities, great Performance Management, great benefits, really encourages work/life balance!!

    Cons

This is not a con; however, practitioners are held primarily responsible for getting staffed on projects - you do have Counselors and Resource Managers to help with the process, but you must possess great networking skills and the confidence and flexibility to expand your skillsets to be staffed on various projects. It is a great way to grow and gain broad KSAs.

    Advice to Management

    Keep hiring rock stars.
