I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Firm focuses on having consultants not only work on strategy, but also, on implementation as well. At Deloitte, you will be working on both strategy and operations and you will be accountable and responsible for the recommendations that you give. I think in the long-term, the experience that you gain from doing both strategy and implementation is invaluable. This is a major difference when comparing to other firms such as McKinsey, Bain, or BCG where they try to separate people that work on strategy from operations.

    Cons

The firm is very large and the experience that you have can vary greatly depending on luck. Depending on what client projects are available, which senior managers need resources, and who you meet when you first join, it can either be an amazing experience or a negative one if unlucky.

    Advice to Management

The greatest advantage that Deloitte Consulting has is access to other branches of the firm and in having the same consultants work on both strategy and implementation so that they are able to learn from mistakes with higher stakes and develop into better professionals than at other firms that just focuses on strategy or implementation or tries to segment the two.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good Pay.
    Very Inclusive.
You can make a significant impact on almost every project regardless of your level or years at the firm.

    Cons

Feels as if the firm prioritizes firm initiative work at year end over client work. You can make a significant impact on your client engagement (what's making the firm money), yet it won't mean anything if you didn't recruit enough, or mentor enough, or lead BS workshops, etc. This seems backwards...

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Extremely independent, entrepreneurial culture. There is a direct correlation between the amount of work you put in (to worthwhile endeavors) and your success at firm.

    Cons

Not as forward thinking and modern as it makes it self out to be. Most of the work is not as mission focused as you may wish it to be. You feel like a cell phone customer, all of the new customers get great deals and you are left behind with your old contract...

    Advice to Management

    Reward those who stay.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing leadership and opportunities for professional development as long as you own your own career (which means drive and, if needed, force conversations).

    Cons

Make sure to over-communicate own personal and professional aspirations and do your homework on how to ensure those jive with what your leadership needs you to do. Have the conversation...no...Drive the conversation because no one else will do it for you.

    Advice to Management

Do more to support the conversations that allow your people to find what energizes and engages them while meeting your overall strategic and fiscal year objectives.
