I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fair compensation , ample opportunity. Diversity of workforce. Very large, private partnership creating opportunity to do what's right. Extensive number of clients.

    Cons

Work very hard in a large firm; can get lost in the shuffle. Has a very big feel including many internal processes that get in the way of taking care of people.

    Advice to Management

Remember your people. Not everyone brags about what they are doing or even fights to get face time. Take the effort to ensure everyone is recognized for what they do and is supported in their efforts.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I really enjoyed the people that I worked with and I truly believe that Deloitte is willing to invest in its people.

    Cons

I was on the audit side, and when there are deadlines to meet, the hours can go up. I do think they are trying to create a better work life balance during those times, but it's a work in progress.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and remember that changes really start from the top down.

"Lots of Opportunity for the right personality, but Consensus/Performance Management Needs More Transparency"

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to work across markets (federal, commercial, public sector, global). The only limit is your network. Generous PTO. Mentor/sponsor-driven culture. You own your career and you can create your own brand.

    Cons

Non-transparent rating and performance review process. Consensus is more of a popularity/burn book contest and lacks fairness. Not really clear on what it takes to get a 2 vs a 3.

    Advice to Management

Increase transparency around consensus meetings by allowing people of all levels to invite a "huddle" to attend on their behalf- not just those up for SM. Utilize development plans and align them with level expectations. Be more clear with outside/industry hires about expectations at level. Diversify your hiring- having people of different professional and educational backgrounds (not just MBA campus hires) helps stimulate thought and makes us think outside the box. Ditch the PDM model on client-facing projects and hire those people through a third party. PDM people are treated like second class citizens and it causes tension with those of us on other tracks. We're also a consulting firm, not a staff aug firm so PDM isn't really what we do.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great salary and bonus growth if you perform well

One of the only firms around to offer up to 16 weeks paid paternity leave, if you can get approval for it (they're not required to approve)

    Cons

The new RPM performance management system turned a well-documented year end process into an anonymous, undocumented, popularity contest. It's universally reviled within the firm by everyone who is not on the hook to provide reviews. The inside information is that it was created to save time and give more people lower ratings. Bottom line is that you now need to build friendships with your managers more than you need to focus on doing good work to get a good review.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People are what keep you around and the brand name helps. Plenty of opportunities should you choose to leave. Solid company.

    Cons

People aren't paid enough relatively speaking. Leaving the company would likely yield a 30% pay increase. Loyalty is penalized in that sense.

    Advice to Management

    Pay employees more
