I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Atmosphere and learning environment. There is always something going on and you’ll never go hungry. The new reorg could help

    Cons

If you don’t know how to build a network then you’ll fall behind. Your rating aka future is primarily dependent on your counselor and his/her reputation. Not analytically driven at all until you hit manager

    Advice to Management

End the pyramid model and let some young lead.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Deloitte offers a teamwork-oriented environment with some of the smartest people I've ever worked with. They value their culture strongly and make sure very voice is heard, and their training on how to deal with difficult clients, craft presentations and see the big picture set them apart from other firms.

    Cons

They don't always hold true to what they preach when it comes to staffing, at least in Federal. Many practitioners join consulting to experience different technologies and clients, and the firm says you'll be able to have mobility between clients, but ends up not letting you leave a client because you become "too valuable." Many people end up quitting the firm because of it. Also, despite preaching tech fluency, they don't allow practitioners to pursue training or certs in tech not related to their current project or an active proposal.

    Advice to Management

Develop a better strategy for Federal practitioners to move between projects by working with clients to let them know that despite some of their projects being long term, Deloitte has a culture of mobility.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for professional growth and development. There are a lot of very bright and social junior practitioners, which makes work more enjoyable.

    Cons

Solutions aren’t particularly innovative and leadership can sometimes plays a large role in inhibiting practitioners from achieving their potential. Junior practitioners can sometimes get stuck on painfully boring projects for long periods of time.

    Advice to Management

Let practitioners rotate projects more frequently in federal

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A variety of project opportunities are available (you just have to talk to the right people or stick around long enough to become a familiar name). The firm is well-respected in some fields, so this is job is a good way to get closer to your ideal.

    Cons

This company like other consulting firms reward the wrong behavior: those who "network" and get in front of the right people will move up, but that doesn't mean that they do good work or they are decent managers. As a result, most employees have terrible managers they are constantly complaining about. Get used to having team leads who take their personal frustrations and insecurities out on you. It's understood that you "do your time" until you find a project and a team that won't make you want to quit.

    Advice to Management

Allow staff to give upward feedback and train your managers on managing people. Not everyone who wins work is a good manager - the latter takes a different skill set.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Lots of benefits to include paying for certs, well being pay, and gift cards are rewards.

    Cons

Information regarding promotion and how pay is determined is kept hidden. Promotions are only give in August and when your raise is less than inflation they will say it is due to a level cap that doesn't exist. Also, your career is not in your nor your supervisors hands but is determined by a "coach" who may or may not care about you.

    Advice to Management

Be more open about the processes and allow people to drive their own careers with this knowledge. This should be part of in processing not something an employee should find out through the grapevine.
