I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Colleagues are really smart and down to earth. Pretty easy to get along with. A very diverse office. Entrepreneurial spirit is encouraged

    Cons

Politics can often get in the way. Promotion is more about who you know than your skill set or numbers

    Advice to Management

Promotions should be more merit based

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Plenty of opportunities to learn from knowledgeable people. Opportunities to take trainings and add to your skill set. Great work environment.

    Cons

Sometimes politics between partners can leave you hanging.
Networking and who you know is the fastest way to go up the ladder.
Switching projects and finding projects is purely down to your networking abilities. Do not count on Resource Managers for staffing.

    Advice to Management

Partners should also embrace the open and sharing culture of organization. When it comes to money (pr

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, good projects, solid experience.

    Cons

This is not a job, it's a lifestyle. In order to succeed in this firm, you need to be prepared to go above and beyond billable hours and start thinking about contributing to proposals, getting active within one of the dozens of employee groups, and networking at every conceivable social outing. It can be fun at times, and quite taxing at others.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People and benefits. You will find good and smart people working together. Their benefits are really good. Expense policies are generous. The CEO is excellent.

    Cons

Managers and Sr. Managers need more leadership and technical training. They have mastered how to manipulate and get people to do what they want, but they don’t make people connection and meaningful work relationships. It is all about what they want you to do. In order to get recognized, you have to constantly work over time and extend your life for the company. Thus, burn outs are inevitable. They have the reputation that they hire pretty people who don’t know how to handle real implementation. They need to figure out how to develop authentic client relationship and deliver true quality work. Also, stop rewarding juniors who just know how to present well and ask for content.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect. Focus on your leadership skills to retain people. Opportunistic mindset will drive people away.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, benefits, benefits. Health care is great, vacation time (IF you can take it), fitness subsidy, happy hours, etc.

    Cons

You're just an employee to them and at the end of the day, most partners and managers only care about billable hours. They ignore your concerns. I was verbally harassed by 2 managers on 2 different projects and while some of the other managers cared, the partners ignored the issues.

    Advice to Management

Care about your employees and maybe they'll stick around

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large, global firm with many opportunities; they seem to have the funds to pay well and invest in internal iniatives

    Cons

Promotions not always based on merit and results, rather personal relationships; easy for sr. managers and partners to coast while others do the work and they take all the credit. Some of their "insights" are just common sense.

    Advice to Management

Stop believing your own hype. Get back to basics of client service.
