I worked at Delphi (Less than a year)

    Pros

They were pretty good at their management level with all their tasks properly scheduled, offered good salary, relocation bonus even to an intern. They treated me almost as a full time employee and gave me the freedom to implement my ideas.

    Cons

The technical section was not that organised and takes a lot of time to make some change.

    Advice to Management

    Have to be more organised.

I worked at Delphi full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Still a few good engineers left at Delphi. Entry level positions good for gaining much needed experience in a high-tech field.

    Cons

Clueless management, decreased pay and benefits, lack of job security, zero manufacturing in USA. Management / ownership has done everything humanly possible to ruin the business, betting everything on the outsourced engineer and is paying the price. What used to be a good place to work (in Kokomo, IN) has been reduced to an average employer for getting a foot into the engineering profession with no hope for a future or career. In a good economy, Delphi in Kokomo has nothing to offer to attract top talent in engineering.

Long-term business outlook is very poor for Delphi. Only hope for Delphi sustaining current business model is to hope that competitors follow the same path of self-destruction.

    Advice to Management

Ten H1B Visa employees who have no skills or experience and cannot do the job of one experienced engineer is NOT a good business plan for a so-called high-tech company.

I have been working at Delphi full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flex time, decent benefits, great employees, beautiful office, generous vacation plan

    Cons

Manager more concerned with dress code and clean desks than our projects. Management is disconnected. Not much room for advancement in Ohio. Lots of stressed out people.

    Advice to Management

Your senior employees are still not over the stuff that happened during the bankruptcy.

I have been working at Delphi (More than a year)

    Pros

There is lots of opportunity to grow into different areas. Competitive pay and benefits. If you work hard you can definitely shine.

    Cons

The demographic is definitely older. Need to attract younger talent. Has made progress in this area but needs to be more. Unorganized at times.

    I worked at Delphi full-time

    Pros

Was a leader in automotive technology, well equipped labs, fellow engineers support each other, new younger employees are safe

    Cons

constantly overworked, high stress due constant fear of being let go if you are long term employee, in favor of younger, new employees Company does most of its downsizing at Christmass unexpectedly. Religiously lays off lots of salaried folks every year since 2009.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees , don't sugar coat how the business is going then drop the boom without warning.

I have been working at Delphi part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good part-time opportunity for students. Allows me to work just 12 hours a week for a very competitive hourly wage. Great experience that looks good on a resume.

    Cons

Can get a little bit boring at times. This varies by project.
