I have been working at Delta Community Supports full-time

    Pros

There is a lot of care for the consumers and it comes from direct support staff, management, upper management, and office employees. There is some room for growth and Delta promotes a lot within. You can transfer to work at a different program if your schedule availability changes.

    Cons

    no salary raises, disorganized trainings

    Advice to Management

explain new changes to all staff because information spreads quickly and turns into gossip.

    Pros

You can make your own hours and work a full time job.
they call you the same day since they have high turn over.

    Cons

Very disorganized. Managers and supervisors have no clue how to manage their own staff or train them. When you ask the main office no reply if you get one very vague.
A few friends walked out on the job just plain frustrated. no advancement. just use the money for a car payment or rent then find a real job.

    Advice to Management

need to care about their employees.

    Pros

The people in lower positions like at the office or homes are very nice people and are team players. They are the most important part of the organization because they serve the ppl.

    Cons

They have many things to work on. Organization is falling apart due to new management. Vacation policy is awful. You only get vacation after a year.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they suggest things for improvement.

I have been working at Delta Community Supports full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Been here about a year. It's great to see a human services company that is devoted to the clients and not the budget. They are very quality driven and give their employees the tools to succeed. Great team atmosphere and they support their employees.

    Cons

Just the regular non-profit related issues like stagnant wages, but they at least give you the chance to earn overtime and have great benefits.

    Advice to Management

Continue to build upon your success. You do a lot of good work for the community and offer a great place to work.

I have been working at Delta Community Supports full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The clients are great to work with, it's a lot of fun to go out with them and do activities.
Job allows you a lot of independance and freedoms.
    Good staff to work with.
Decent amount of over time. It's a good 'foot in the door' job.

    Cons

The pay could be better (asst manager make $11.50/hr) regular staff makes about $10, I think.
Some managers are just unqualified to do their jobs, and still get promoted, because they're friends with somebody higher up.
Reliable help gets passed over so it's difficult to advance career. But maybe I'm just a bit bitter.

    Advice to Management

Be more careful who you hire; you've got some lazy unprofessionals working among you.

    Pros

I loved the flexible schedule because with school closings and my children getting sick one with asthma, it was great to know that I could work late or come in on a Saturday to make up missed time.

    Cons

Delta promotes social workers to a supervisor position without prior experience or lack of better words out of their skill set. Before promoting someone without the necessary tools delta needs to provide proper training

    Advice to Management

It's great that you promote within the agency however; stop giving the top positions to your friends and family. Over looking other candidates for people that your friends with isn't fair t or professional. to keep nepotism out of the work place should be the responsibility of the President/CEO of Delta Community Supports Inc.
