    Positive Outlook

I worked at Delta Community Supports (More than a year)

    Pros

The majority of CSAS, managers, directors and coordinators put the consumers above everything else. I liked my co-workers a lot.

    Cons

The agency has been going through some good changes and the person in charge of it (she) doesn't know how to manage or respect employees. I didn't get good training or support from my supervisor because she didn't know a lot about "NJ" residential. Other coordinators and office staff are nice and helpful. You can be happy working here, but it depends on who your supervisor is. Programs need work, but the consumers are taken care of very well.

    Advice to Management

If you respect your staff, staff will respect you.

I have been working at Delta Community Supports full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Clients and Co-workers can be the best part of this job at times.

    Cons

    Management needs a complete overhaul.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the loyal employees you have working for you and compensate them for all the hard work that goes into this job day in and day out. Showing a bit of appreciation would go a long way as well.

I worked at Delta Community Supports part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You'll find through the disorganized chaos and tons of excessive poorly written documentation, quite a few dedicated nice people that enjoy working with consumers and colleagues. The few gems of professionals there are grossly under paid and under appreciated for their expertise that would help bring the company into the 21st century -or at least help turn around the increasingly negative reputation of a non profit that is supposed to help their population. If you need experience in the field take the job but know its temporary.

    Cons

No career development. Company pays the lowest salaries even for a non profit so they have extremely high turn over. Poor first impression with constant bugs, smells and dirty carpets. little or no training/guidance so people work beyond their job description - the ones that actually have one. Sr. Management doesn't seem concerned until there is a major escalation that could have been easily prevented with experienced and professional management in place.

    Advice to Management

accountability is key proactive and not reactive should be in the mission statement.

I have been working at Delta Community Supports full-time

    Pros

There is a lot of care for the consumers and it comes from direct support staff, management, upper management, and office employees. There is some room for growth and Delta promotes a lot within. You can transfer to work at a different program if your schedule availability changes.

    Cons

    no salary raises, disorganized trainings

    Advice to Management

explain new changes to all staff because information spreads quickly and turns into gossip.

I worked at Delta Community Supports full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people in lower positions like at the office or homes are very nice people and are team players. They are the most important part of the organization because they serve the ppl.

    Cons

They have many things to work on. Organization is falling apart due to new management. Vacation policy is awful. You only get vacation after a year.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they suggest things for improvement.

I have been working at Delta Community Supports full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Been here about a year. It's great to see a human services company that is devoted to the clients and not the budget. They are very quality driven and give their employees the tools to succeed. Great team atmosphere and they support their employees.

    Cons

Just the regular non-profit related issues like stagnant wages, but they at least give you the chance to earn overtime and have great benefits.

    Advice to Management

Continue to build upon your success. You do a lot of good work for the community and offer a great place to work.

I have been working at Delta Community Supports full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The clients are great to work with, it's a lot of fun to go out with them and do activities.
Job allows you a lot of independance and freedoms.
    Good staff to work with.
Decent amount of over time. It's a good 'foot in the door' job.

    Cons

The pay could be better (asst manager make $11.50/hr) regular staff makes about $10, I think.
Some managers are just unqualified to do their jobs, and still get promoted, because they're friends with somebody higher up.
Reliable help gets passed over so it's difficult to advance career. But maybe I'm just a bit bitter.

    Advice to Management

Be more careful who you hire; you've got some lazy unprofessionals working among you.
