I worked at Deluxe Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

nice people, they do make you feel appreciated.

    Cons

If you cant scam customers (small business) out of their money you could lose your jobs. If you cant get customers to buy certain products month you are considered invaluable. Working from the inside attention customers if you demand a 20% discount you can get it just demand it they have to give it to you.

    Advice to Management

    Money is not everything.

I worked at Deluxe Corporation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Really good benefits, Rewards for 5s initiatives, General corporate concern.

    Cons

To many to mention, Dislocated management. To many Process changes, Long term employees who previously worked for NEBS are not particularly happy with the Deluxe culture or having trouble adapting.

    Advice to Management

LISTEN!! ...do not just hear your employees when addressing concerns about their general welfare on the job!

I have been working at Deluxe Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and salary are competitive. Working at home and flexible hours are accommodated in some departments. There are some smart and talented people here that are trying their best.

    Cons

Leadership from the top down is weak and ineffective. The culture encourages department heads to be territorial and defensive because the pie is shrinking and all are desperate to hang on to their slice. Long-time employees who give mediocre performances stay on (and on) and fight any change. New hires come in with enthusiasm and fresh ideas but most find it impossible to maintain that enthusiasm past the first year. In some areas of the company, the culture is emotionally toxic, with entrenched cliques making life difficult for anyone they don’t like. Too many smart people are leaving the company because of the lack of leadership, failing product lines, inferior technology, toxic environment, and resistance to change.

    Advice to Management

Management has shown time and again that they have no interest in change, no interest in critical feedback, no interest in truly transforming the company. The single thing that interests management is the stock price.

I have been working at Deluxe Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    -Direct Manager/ Coworkers
-Spacious Desk (Really, my desk is huge.)
    -Casual dress
-Sometimes clients don't yell at you all the time

    Cons

-No set hierarchy for advancement. Growing workforce should also mean expanding the ladder instead of shrinking it
-Internally speaking, Deluxe is incredibly disorganized. Using glorified Excel sheets as the main place to go for internal documents/knowledge is outdated
-No sharing of knowledge across departments!! This should be a GIVEN. How many times do we need to come off as unprofessional because we don't have a central place for knowledge???
-Pay across the department for the same position is wildly different. There shouldn't be 20k+ in a pay difference for the same role with minimal difference in work experience/education between workers
-Invest in technology that works and is efficient! Period

    Advice to Management

Invest in what you got before you lose more business

    Pros

    -Small company with good people/culture
    -Decent benefits package
    -Good work/life balance

    Cons

    -Minimal growth opportunities
-Get want you want for compensation when you start, because once you're there, the comp rewards/pay increases are very rare.
    -Layoffs EVERY Fall

    Advice to Management

Reward your employees, create promotional opportunities

I worked at Deluxe Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you want to understand the challenges of change in a corporate environment, Deluxe is a great place to learn. Change is difficult . . . especially when you are changing the fundamental business model. So it's a valuable skill to learn. There are some great people . . .

    Cons

Leadership is not committed to growth, only to survival. They have done the minimum necessary to please Wall Street and get the stock higher. The overall strategy made sense: leverage the customer base of 4MM small biz owners who purchase paper checks from Deluxe. Cross sell them to other relevant (marketing services) offerings that Deluxe established through acquisitions. Deluxe made the acquisitions but failed to make the investments in technology that would link the customer data bases, consolidating the customer data and giving customers a reason to choose the Deluxe brand. The acquisitions they make are small, second or third-tier; never companies with a breakthrough technology or strong competitive advantage.

    Advice to Management

The CEO doesn't listen to his direct reports . . . wouldn't expect him to listen to my advice.

I worked at Deluxe Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers, benefits start almost immediately. Regular business hours. No nights or Sundays. Rotating Saturday shifts, about 1 per month.

    Cons

High pressure sales. Deliberately setting sales goals so that a large percentage of reps won't meet minimums and company won't have to pay out commission. Micromanagement of your time, but that's the same as most call centers. Managers play favorites. Insurance co-pays and deductible went up this year.

    Advice to Management

There's a reason why you're hemorrhaging people out of the business sales division. Pay everyone commission on what they sell. If you sell more, you make more, but drop these ridiculous quotas that reps have to meet before they make a penny on what they sold. We all know it's just because you don't want to pay commission in the first place.

I worked at Deluxe Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I didn't enjoy the work, but the people there are really trying to make a terrible environment better. I hope they do it!

    Cons

Deluxe is really a business first kind of environment, which makes it tough to work there. They focus less on the people and more on their bottom line. Definitely wouldn't recommend working here.

    Advice to Management

I would definitely focus more on the people working at Deluxe than the business itself. The people make the business, but it's really hard to work in an environment where everyone hates their work and the upper management.

I have been working at Deluxe Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good benefits, 3 weeks PTO/annually.

    Cons

Severe micromanaging, poor incentive plan (used to be quite good), even senior reps have to work Saturdays. I feel like my skills are a waste here, advancement is difficult even with stellar performance. The corporate culture has shifted in my time here from a supportive, positive culture, to a pressure and fear-based one.

    Advice to Management

Take your employees seriously. Make sure you have your employees' backs before you grind them on "upserving" the customer. Don't threaten with micromanaging, reports, and archaic attendance policy, encourage and build up. Handing out ice cream isn't going to cut it.

    Advice to Management

The structure for the company is terrible.
