I worked at Deluxe Corporation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    They have H/R and Managers.

    Cons

You can't use the open door policy without retribution.

    Advice to Management

When your let go and then get a letter from your CEO/President congratulating you on your 25 years of service.

I worked at Deluxe Corporation full-time

    Pros

If I have to give any pros, it would have to be the ability to sign the go home early list because it gets so slow there they will let you leave.

    Cons

There are so many cons. They hire every month to fill the high turn over they have. Micro-managed by all the "team leaders", and besides that, they write you up for everything.
Plus I suggest going to a website where customers have the ability to voice their thoughts on the "customer service" they receive from Checks Unlimited. They have verbatim scripting which is misleading and frankly covers their butts.

    Advice to Management

No advice. Keep doing what you're doing. Checks are on the decline anyway,

    Pros

Good benefits and pay. They allow working from home. Nice cafeteria. Very good medical, dental insurance and the price for it is excellent

    Cons

Micromanagement. They play favoritism a lot. The QA department is a disaster. Many of the contractor developers left the company because disappointed by the department.

    Pros

The place is all about how to micromanage . When the Vp of product development visits everyone is super busy otherwise all relaxing. Ping pong all the time .

    Cons

I will need to write a book to describe the cons here. Unless you are favorite of managers here ( very unqualified) you will get no where . They make team leads of people who they think can get job done . Those team leads also have no product knowledge they just know how to make noise during meetings to pretend to know . Release cycles are disastrous .sprints are badly planned .if you love to read books this place is for you . Unrelevant books part of reading. This place is where you join if you want to be demoralized . They are struggling handling other locations that they acquire . Knowledge is still there and they do not know how to gather information other than relying on people in other locations

    Advice to Management

Hire better managers instead of hiring from within .management is a joke . Complain to hr a joke

Office is old and dirty, smells in some areas
Vending machines expensive. Did have great canteen but replaced with machines

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and implement their suggestions

I worked at Deluxe Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good for developers who are looking for growth & experience.

There are a variety of technologies and products that developers can access and work on.

There are some great developers who you could have a chance to work with and improve your skills.

Company is not bad at supporting the dev team for their skill advancements. There are some nice people that might help you enjoy working.

    Cons

There are way too many layers of managers. The pyramids in Cairo might have less steps to the top. Many acquisitions are the main cause to this.

They acquire a company to lift their yearly revenue for the current year, new managers come with it, invent new titles for them and keep looking for another company to acquire.

I reported to a manager (micro won't define his way of management, need a new word in English for that), he reported to another, and he reported to another, and another. Still haven't reached to the VP level yet. You get it? When you need something, ask your manager, he asks his, and he asks his. This keeps going all the way to the top. Lost in translation eventually.

No manager really does anything or make a decision. You are on your own in your team. If you are lucky and have a nice team, your life might be good. As long as the useless managers aren't around all the time.

Many of the managers have no clue about anything. My manager didn't know the product he was managing. Any time his manager asks him something, he asks the team, then paraphrases with his awesome English and forwards one layer above. He was getting paid 6-digits for forwarding emails and micro-hell-dismotivate his team.

As long as you agree with one layer up and agree even more with a 32-teeth-smile on your face, your salary keeps coming.

If you are a developer and starting your career, I can recommend this place. But again, if you are a starter, I can recommend anywhere to write code and learn business. Other than that, stay away.

    Advice to Management

Fire at least half of the useless/harmful layers of management.

Don't dictate your thoughts all the way to the down.

    Don't be scared of diversity.

Let people talk, allow them to change the things you're doing terribly wrong.

Stop favoring/hiring buddies and promoting them regularly. People should grow with their skillsand works not with their relationships with the managers.

    Pros

The only pro might be the pto time and the occasional flexible work from home.free lunch occasionally and easy commute to work

    Cons

The environment is terrible fear tactics and high unachievable targets.targets set with intention to make people fail. The leads are useless they do not contribute to anything since they are in there so that management who is remote locations can control .
The work is redundant and management refuses to innovate. Ridiculous book clubs with terrible books and everyone has to act excited. Micromanagement to the max .

    Advice to Management

Make more capable people leads and help lead the company . Good leads are not ones who have been there for a long time

Incompetent team leads now in place just so they can report to managers . Everyone is always trying to upp the other with meetings and always stressed in order to gain some value.Promotions never happen even if you work hard . Required mandatorily to work and study after hours otherwise made to feel bad

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Fellow workers were great. Company tried to be supportive of employees. During my time there, management changed a lot and level of support varied. Good benefits.

    Cons

Sometimes upper management tried to implement changes without understanding the impact that it would have to various parts of the company.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to workers. They understand how things work. It's not always that they are resistant to change.
