    Pros

    Monday free bagels.

It's a good place for a first job out of college and jump to a studio or Netflix as quickly as possible.

    Cons

Low pay. No bonus or raise. Pressure from management to work extended hours and weekends because they overbook at the last minute.

Lots of in fighting amongst co-workers.

There's nothing creative about this company. They might as well be manufacturing brake pads.

    Advice to Management

    Find another job.

I have been working at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some decent wages. I was in a department doing office work in a call center.

    Cons

Where to begin. Management decided to close its backup call center (which I was a part of) even when the other call center has gone down 4 times in the last 6 months. They seem to have a knack for layoffs. They recently just laid off the entire Burbank distribution center and moved everything out of state. Management seems to make decisions without actually taking any input from lower management or employees. There is such a disconnect between management and employees. And the amount of layoffs since I had started there 3 years ago, has been quite high.
You are limited in your growth opportunities. You have maybe 1 or 2 spots in your department. If you want to grow you have to move outside of your department and essentially start over.

    Advice to Management

Actually take advise from lower management and employees. Stop making stupid decisions.

I worked at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

clients are cool and have cool projects, benefits are decent

    Cons

lack of leadership, no cohesion across the company, poorly treated, bad morale, poor facilities, most leaders are hobbyists and have limited financial and business acumen then the business suffers and the lower level staff are let go conversely they never get the raises when things go well

    Advice to Management

define the culture and how it will be expressed; hold leaders accountable to performance and pay them to meet their objective

I worked at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A handful of coworkers were really great.

    Cons

Extreme lack of communication from every aspect of the company, extremely low/unlivable compensation, empty promises of promotion and trajectory, hierarchy of who is treated well and who isn't, absolutely zero incentive to exceed job expectations, rude and sexist producers, HR is completely unhelpful, throws parties for clients and leaves all the clean up and mess to the support staff who often gets drunk and does nothing, no one is held accountable for their actions, and the list goes on and on.

    Advice to Management

    Clean sweep and start over.

I worked at Deluxe Entertainment full-time

    Pros

    There are nor real pros.

    Cons

No work/life balance, management doesn't care about employees and engineers are treated like a call center rep and the only people they care about is their managers and VPs and their studio facing staff. As an engineer they don't treat you right, no opportunities to learn anything. They only do training for management and management doesn't care about your goals or achievement. No opportunity to learn anything new. There is no desire to change anything or make anything better at the software level. There's no desire for better solutions or fixing anything and there's so much technical depth that they can't begin to figure out where to start fixing stuff. Things have gotten worse after the JV with Technicolor, and inheriting software that was even worse did not help the situation. All the developers are overworked. There is no transfer of knowledge. There is no desire to help employees stay and no re-negotiation of salary unless you know people and have been with the company for a long time. Your pay and salary is not based on how much you know , how valuable you are or how hard you work, it's based on how long you have been with the company, who you know in the company and wether or not you are willing to pretend and accept anything that management tells you. People who are not worth to the company are getting paid ridiculous salaries just because they know the VP or this person or that person and because they were with the company for a long time.

I have been working at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You get to watch current films and TV shows for free. (Does that even count?)

    Cons

The pay is terribly low. Management is worse, especially the lifers, who are incompetent, lazy, disrespectful, and unfair. Deluxe has an awful company culture, where the training is poor, managers are quick to scapegoat their subordinates, and there is no hope of advancement.

    Advice to Management

Declare bankruptcy and close the company for good. In all seriousness, fire the lifers and really promote people based on merit. The lifers bring their friends and relatives into the company and this needs to be stopped because nepotism has destroyed Deluxe.

I worked at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free snacks and sodas in the office

    Cons

I worked at Deluxe over 3 years, nothing gets better there, it just gets worse! All the benefits and policies have have been cleverly designed to get you stuck there and loose your confidence to just get a paycheck and no training so you become useful only for that specific environment (tribal knowledge) , while you become outdated for the job market cause you need the paycheck. Basically everything over there is YOUR problem!

Anti-female environment and HR is a JOKE! If you complain about a harassment, you'll find yourself in a situation to prove them you're innocent!!!

Deluxe supports a lot of work visas, so you end up being in a gang of people from same country backing each other up and ready to cut your throat so they don't loos their job and have to leave US!

    Advice to Management

You are a very good manager with a good faith. I like the fact you are trying hard to make the improvements but you're on your own.

    Pros

    Fixable hour as developer.
Wide range of projects happening. Good place to learn different skills, coding languages. Forced to be strong or to be played.

    Cons

Very political place. Two major groups are taking over all major projects, where none royal family team can only maintain old projects that waiting to be killed or replaced.
Taking forever to doing migrations of different groups and people.
Currently is looking to replace similar products, good luck if you are not working on the one the is on the list of replacing/merging product. Even if the application is better, will be replaced by royal family's own projects.
Hiring is just temporary, once the products merged, there will be question about what i can do. Unless you are joining the team that in the royal family.

    Advice to Management

Respect people based on their contributions and skills fairly.

I worked at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a paycheck. Ability to learn about the entertainment business.

    Cons

No increases. Upper Management is uninformed and does not listen. Parent company will not invest in employees. Fear of retribution for leaving to other companies in similar business, if you can even find one. I know of 4 former employees who have received personal legal threats for going to a competitor. Company revised employment letter and employee handbook and required everyone to sign new agreement that superseded any employment agreements, and the new employee handbook puts any employee at risk who leaves to go to a competitor. Feels like the company is participating in monopolistic behavior so they don't have to provide better services and squashed any entity that might try to enter the market or hire former Deluxe employees. Leaving Deluxe feels worse and harder than trying to leave communist country.

    Advice to Management

Stop threatening employees and engaging in monopolistic behaviors. The customers are upset with the company but have nowhere else to go.
