    Pros

Each of the employers I have had has been friendly, helpful, and genuinely concerned about my well-being. This has helped me to be productive and motivated despite the time commitment of concurrently being a full-time student.

    Cons

Workload and communication levels vary incredibly depending on the department of the university for which you work. Some positions involve little interaction or activity.

    Advice to Management

Though the variation in workload is helpful for some students, the interaction and benefits of working closely with professionals and academics also vary. It would be helpful to provide this exposure and interaction for all student positions at all levels.

I worked at Denison University (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits, sometimes fun, you never know what you will see, there are some good kids there,

    Cons

No communication, they treat the students like kids let them get away with what ever. These kids are the future of our country, help us all

    Advice to Management

Get rid of some of the administrators

I worked at Denison University part-time

    Pros

I loved my one boss. She made work nice but it was who she was that made that place special.

    Cons

There was a lot to do outside of that job. Honestly the job was boring but I found a way to make it work.

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring great people and choosing people who value your values and morals and intellectual process.

I worked at Denison University (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent hours, limited responsibility, and overall a nice gig. You can homework while you sign people in, it's the easiest job you can do.

    Cons

Pay is low (minimum wage), but really you're getting paid to do your homework. So how could you really be upset?

    Advice to Management

Hire less students, so you can give tenured employees the ability to pick up more hours if they like. Worked in the health center for 4 years, and was only offered 4 hours out of the 10 I requested as a senior.

I worked at Denison University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to get involved beyond your school work, the tour guide position is a great way to practice public speaking, sales, and thinking on your feet.

    Cons

Jobs at Denison do not always give as many hours as one might desire, as a tour guide there are many slow times, and picking up additional hours may not be possible

    Advice to Management

It may be helpful to have on going projects throughout the slow times that could keep the students busy, as well as help the school and students.

I have been working at Denison University (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing work environment that allows you to work on your own ideas; a lot of great benefits; very intelligent students; fair amount of paid time off; very friendly colleagues

    Cons

Not a very diverse staff but could be due to location; about 30-40 minutes away from Columbus; hard to balance work-life balance, everyone is expected to be very involved with campus life; not a lot of opportunities to move-up unless you invest a lot of years to Denison.

    Advice to Management

Need more people of color to be part of the staff and faculty; more pre-professional training that is required (not optional); need to have more opportunity to faculty and staff to interact to help build relationship to help the work environment.
