I worked at Denny's (More than a year)

    Pros

Great coworkers, free food (make it yourself). Somewhat easy because you end up not caring after a few months.

    Cons

Everything. Dirty. Customers constantly trying to get free food. Managers expected to work 70 hours a week a lot. Management takes away bonuses for no reason. Wouldnt help fix the problems and then yell all you for not having the resources to fix them. Constantly out of product because they wouldnt let you spend money on things like burgers or fries. Would punish stores for having low satisfaction ratings by taking away things like labor, hood cleaners or budget. Did not care about food safety. Saw cross contamination on a daily basis (cracking raw eggs without gloves or handwashing then continuing to make food). Horrible. Dont work here.

    Advice to Management

Realize you have to spend money to make money. Stop treating managers like we are robots who will spend 9 days working 15 hours a shift just to keep your labor cost low. Stop letting customers run your stores. Get police at every store on 3rd shift so we dont have to endanger our lives on a daily basis.

Too much pressure on hourly employees

    Advice to Management

Staff your franchise stores correctly instead of making management focus all their efforts on lowering labor.

    I worked at Denny's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good food, high standards in place

    Cons

Priorities as far as standards are unrealistic, Very poor treatment of staff and total disregard for respect or dignity to employees. Unfair assignments. Issues rarely resolved only covered. Unrealistic expectations. If your good at “ YES MAAM & BROWN NOSING your sure to rate TOP OF THE LADDER.

    Advice to Management

Enforce fair and equal Assignments and seating rotations. If A employee doesnt follow company rules and standards get rid of them however first assess and discuss with employee the issue and direct and support a resolution ultimately a direct benefit to the guest while ensuring standards set forth by cooperate. This is what will make the business grow and profits rise. Management seems to have NO idea how to manage issues.... total Chaos. They are so fired up and determined to run a “TIGHT SHIP” and are totally clueless of anything else. Yes you will ALWAYS have people who want a job. STOP tearing down your employees. Take time and effort to recognize, appreciate and respect those individuals that care and make effort to do their job correctly and uphold cooperate standards. These employees will stay and be a great asset to the company and increase overall profit. STOP hiring ANY & ALL willing bodies to match numbers for staff requirements. These individuals dont care and will NOT contribute assets needed for Success. Trust that Guests DO NOTICE the difference and that IS or Should be TOP Priority. Afterall Guest Satisfaction IS the key to SUCCESS . Owners and managers should NEVER yell, scream and downtalk
ANY Employee. If you care about your business success take the time and respect to resolve issues stop trying to jump from A to Z without doing the inbetween. That IS Poor Ownership and Management.

    Cons

Nobody dines there. Be lucky if you walk away with more than $5 in tips. If you're new, the servers that have been there longer will take every single table that walks in the door. You'll get maybe a couple tables. Nasty coworkers
