I have been working at Denny's part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, decent pay if you are personable.

    Cons

You have to work with people that couldnt get a better job. Petty infighting.

    Advice to Management

Fire all the old waitresses, they are slow, dirty, and ineffective. The customers just don't have the heart to complain when she looks like their grandma, but dont come back.

    I worked at Denny's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Well established and organized

    Cons

Very unreasonable expectations for training. You can't expect someone to spend 10 or more hours in store plus 4-5 hours commuting and then fire them for speaking up about it

    Advice to Management

If you hire someone in Bellingham don't make them travel to Seattle for training. Also when you hire an experienced restaurant general manager you are hiring them to manage and lead a team, making them spend a month training to be a prep/line cook is a bit ridiculous. Spending the day on a fry-line wearing a suit and tie is a bit frustrating for a professional with 10-20 years experience

    I worked at Denny's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of my managers was amazing and was very helpful when I needed help. My coworkers were fun to be around and work with

    Cons

The owner cared more about making money than good customer service. Some of the customers were sexist and hit on the younger female workers and no one stopped them.

    Advice to Management

Make sure the owners are representing the brand well

I have been working at Denny's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a fast paced environment where you get to interact with customers a lot. New menu and delicious promotional items offered quarterly.

    Cons

Low pay for management. Open 24 hours. Open 365 days a year. Very busy on holidays. No benefits. Franchised locations make it hard to advance into upper management. As a manager you are required to work all weekends and holidays. No rotating shifts. Poorly designed training program. High employee turn over.

I have been working at Denny's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Meeting new people daily and also seeing people come in daily is always a plus for me.. I love the energy Denny's gives.

    Cons

High turn over..over worked, understaffed, underpaid, open all holidays. I feel as though I spend more time doing everbody elses job but my own.

    Advice to Management

Sometimes its easier crunching numbers, but I think sometimes one forgets what is like working on the floor,or in the field. and Holidays some holidays should still be observed as such.

    I worked at Denny's full-time

    Pros

You don't really have to provide extreme customer service. And if you can flip the tables fast, you can make some decent money.

    Cons

It's super busy, very disorganized nobody knows what their doing. Or really care for that matter. You have all these jobs built into one.

I have been working at Denny's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, servers don't have to tip out to anyone, though some do. Good money, depending on shift and location.

    Cons

Poorly trained management. Too much friends hiring friends. Too many bad tippers from a near by University that are given a 20% discount so they come in huge groups. Poorly trained, understaffed overworked kitchen crew.

    Advice to Management

Seperate freinds from work. Recognize the staff that actually does their job, improve decision making skills of management.
