I worked at Dentsu Singapore for less than a year

    Pros

Huge office , trainings and colleagues

    Cons

Not all the time the kind of teaching you expect is given . Sometimes there’s lack of proper communication . Questionable evaluation method .

    Advice to Management

Decide on a uniform system / determine the role of what interns are to you . Communicate all expectations clearly from the point the contract is agreed on .

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Dentsu Singapore for less than a year

    Pros

CEO: If it matters, Ros is a great CEO to have and I believe she deserve to be mentioned. She have a fair balance between getting stuff done as well as boosting the company's moral. Without doubt she knows what she's doing. It's been an honor being able to interact with her casually on many occasion. (she's like a cool mom) - If you are in a organized and good team, rest assured you won't be thrown out there to deal...

    Cons

    - depending on the team you are on, support is different. Like every job it really depends on your luck. - I have heard interns from other teams having to work on weekends and not given an off in lieu. Or mistakes being pushed to the interns to protect the name of the executives. - much OTs (could last till the next morning) and compensation is little. Capped @ $10 meals and cab fare but only if u OT till 9pm or...

I worked at Dentsu Singapore full-time

    Pros

Overall, I had a positive experience at Dentsu simply because I had a mentor who was invested in my professional growth. Take that out of the equation however...

    Cons

    - Boring clientele - Business philosophy of "Innovative Business Solutions" doesn't even make sense when the company is still largely traditional with regards to its output - Constantly giving in to the clients and not pushing for creative work that has the potential to be great - Project managers bully interns, treating them like absolute dirt - Sub-par employees know how to curry the "correct" people's favour while...

    Advice to Management

Start hiring people who actually are invested in growing the business, and open your eyes to that skive off and pretend to be useful.

I worked at Dentsu Singapore full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. The younger lot are so hardworking, so resilient and so collaborative. I’ve never come across a more hardworking and pleasant bunch of junior to mid-level people in an agency in Singapore, no matter their department. 2. Andy Greenaway (ECD): Andy is clearly passionate about work that’s not just creative but also makes sense and is effective. It’s a joy working with him because he’s collaborative (despite how busy...

    Cons

    1. The Strategy Team: The agency seems to think that strategy = back-rationalising, which is the biggest problem. There is no proper understanding or appreciation of consumer insights, research and rigorous strategic thinking. Juniors are taught to just buddy up to senior people so that the Strategy team appears useful. Don't be surprised if you find a Planner at Dentsu Singapore suddenly acting as an Account Executive...

    Advice to Management

Learn to hire the right people - if not the BEST people - especially in senior and management positions. Get your HR in order. No point in having people in your HR department if your employees can’t even rely on them. Treat your people right because at the moment, you don’t. If even the senior employees are constantly feeling the heat, then something is truly broken in the system.

    Pros

ECD is awesome. Sadly he is always busy.

    Cons

No proper structure and due to lack of the knowledge of the companies culture and how it works, you will therefore be labelled impotent. Colleagues will throw you under the bus in order to keep good reputation and relationship with the CDs. And nobody will guide you in anything. It's not a place to learn, unless you want to learn the art of politics.

    Advice to Management

Stop sticking to your own cliques for christ sake. A company should grow together, not in bits and pieces.

I have been working at Dentsu Singapore

    Pros

    1) Great location- there is a lift from Tanjong Pagar MRT station that brings you to the building 2) Beautiful office space- Dentsu shares an office with the other brands in the network and it’s a beautiful office space with great views and furnishings. Additionally, the pantry has a lot of space so you can comfortably eat lunch here. The beautiful office makes me not dread work. 3) Warm and nurturing environment-...

    Cons

    1) Food in Guoco Tower is really expensive especially on my intern pay (I usually walk to Amoy Street or Tanjong Pagar Market for food) 2) This place is not good for someone who is a slacker or grossly incompetent as Dentsu has many clients and as such there is a lot of work. You don’t have to sell your soul to the company but it will be very obvious if you are a slacker or incompetent. 3) I have to leave as I...

    Pros

    1. Andy Greenway. Yep, I'm stating a human being as a "pro" for Dentsu Singapore. He's honestly great. He's passionate about what he does, he's good at his craft, and he's the type who actually invests in people. I'm sure many people stay just for him. 2. The opportunities provided by the network, both in terms of moving across agencies and across countries. 3. Amazing office with one of the best views in all of...

    Cons

    1. Politicking. Many people in Dentsu Singapore have their own agenda. It's exhausting navigating people's intentions and trying to figure out who is being authentic. Bosses stealing credit for their subordinates' work, bosses allowing juniors to take the blame for them... There was even an incident where a subject matter expert was forbidden from training a new team member because it's a "waste of time". What??? It's...

    Advice to Management

Do something about your culture. Remember that if you take care of your people, they will take care of the clients. Right now you guys are the place where dreams go to die. Dentsu has a reputation in the industry as horrible employers. If you want that to change, focus on solving your own issues instead of aggressively courting new business.

    Pros

    - Good networking (clients and partners) thanks to its Japanese headquarters. - Flexibility toward potential business with companies out of current network.

    Cons

    - Power harassment. Company management treats employees based on personal preferences with minimal support to staff who aren't among the privileged ones. - Tricky commission based system. - Teamwork is unrealistic but, the staff performs keeping in mind the likes and dislikes of the president of the company. - The company encourages actions that will produce profit even they may violate business ethics.

    Advice to Management

Be fair to your employees and manage to make of your company a standard working environment.

    Pros

The people are the friendliest colleagues you'll ever meet. Creatives, traffic and suits.

    Cons

The management needs to listen to the employees, and not just care about revenue. The environment is negative and people are always upset with the management.
