    Pros

    Not much, decent company car choices and pretty fun national meetings. Lots of parties. Awards trip is crap though. I

    Cons

    These guys have no clue and they seem to make wholesale changes every year or so. Never get our feet on the ground.

    Advice to Management

    Check in on your senior managers

    I worked at Depomed full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Company has some really smart people in various functions and a good portfolio of products. Offices are also nice.

    Cons

    Highly political work environment that prioritizes form over substance.
    Low compensation compared to peers in Bay Area.
    No real incentive to excel or go above and beyond - under performers and top performers are treated the same.
    Groupthink culture created by CEO/upper management.
    Self-serving CEO/upper management.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the few good people and get rid of the known under performers.
    Compensate everyone fairly, not just upper management.
    Wake up and realize the company is located in Bay Area and it is year 2016, not 1985.

    I have been working at Depomed (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexibility with working hours, you can make great money but very few do because of poor manage care. Stock options are available.

    Cons

    Leadership sets unrealistic sales expectations. I would not refer anyone to Depomed even if they were unemployed. This company is setting itself up to be bought out.

    Advice to Management

    Respect your employees and provide work life balance

    Pros

    -people at the bench level are pleasant to work with.
    -people at the lower level are technical and knowledgable

    Cons

    -collusion between people in upper management designed to undermine others efforts;

    -lack of accountability, responsibility by upper management "Lead by Consensus" philosophy;

    -decision making is done by consensus. If you disagree with the consensus (2-3 people in upper management) you are labeled a "problem";

    -management approach is to take the shortest, highest risk route rather than the "right" approach. Often make decisions predicated on time lines rather than "correct/industry standard"" or "ethical" approach;

    --promotions through Nepotism

    Advice to Management

    Foster a culture of diversity in opinion & experience rather than going with the corporate "Bobble Heads"

    I worked at Depomed full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good contest rewards when they ran them

    Cons

    Encouraged reps to promote off-label, and despite numerous complaints to HR & Legal, no changes ever occurred. Management overpromised and under-delivered routinely.

    Advice to Management

    Revise the bonus systems to be more fair for all. All reps should promote all products.

    I have been working at Depomed full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great products. Bonus structure is decent. Benefits are good. Programs are in place for managed care environment to assist in coverage are decent.

    Cons

    People are "let go" in a second. (High performers). Marketing Department. Anyone. No job security. Mid to upper management are self serving. Environment is oppressive.

    Advice to Management

    Value all people through all ranks. Middle to upper management is a homogenous, male dominated environment. DMs that should be "let go" should be severed vs. retained. Sends message to field force that management is supported regardless of legal "tight rope."

    Pros

    Base salary is the only positive draw to a job with this underperforming company.

    Cons

    Low commission/bonus
    Me-too drugs with little advantage over generic options
    Bad leadership
    Off-label selling practices
    Non-compliant
    No room for career advancement
    Low level leadership is incompetent

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of incompetent sales managers and revamp HR, sales training, compliance department and all whom encourage illegal practices. FDA should keep a close eye on sales practices. Physician's should be skeptical of messaging from sales specialists.

    Pros

    Good product offering with Gralise but Zipsor is just another me too.

    Cons

    Poor Managent and no clear sales direction. If ram my own business with the same lack of direction I would be bankrupt.

    Advice to Management

    A culture of fear to drive performance will never get the best performance from your employees.

    Pros

    Good products but few indications that primary care can write for.

    Cons

    Fear based employment is not the way to succeed. they want you to sell off label to make the numbers and even commit Medicare fraud with their copay card.

    Advice to Management

    The revolving door needs to stop! Support your employees instead of putting their careers in jeopordy. PIP on employees but management needs to be on a performance improvement plan!
