    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Depomed as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good communication at the hands-on and low/middle management levels make it a friendly place to work. Depomed has some very talented people even if they aren't always recognized.

    Cons

Upper management didn't seem to care what the employees actually did. They were just the hands that let management make announcements to business investors.

    Advice to Management

Give a little personal attention to your employees to keep them motivated.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Depomed full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Some great people.
    Products and technology worth supporting.
    Good pipeline for small company.
Good mid-Bay Area location. Moving in December 2012 to a very nice, newly renovated space in the PRC in Newark.

    Cons

Senior management, especially the CEO, appears to be out of touch with the organization as a whole. Morale is low and there is much complaining among the ranks. Several good people have recently left or are looking to leave.

    Advice to Management

At such a small company the CEO should be more accessible to people beyond his direct reports. And HR should be lead by someone who is truly interested in making sure the work environment is good and that people feel like they are heard.

    Advice to Management

quit trying to be big pharma on a shoestring budget

    Pros

Current bag of products is strong.

    Cons

There is one director that thinks his region is his own fiefdom. If you aren't part of his inner circle, its difficult to advance.

    Pros

If you have a good manager you have a good job. Pay is good and products are excellent.

    Cons

If you have a bad manager, the job is awful. Had a hostile takeover attempt in 2015 which failed because the other company didn't come up with enough money. So that indicates the company is for sale to the right bidder. They forced out the previous Natl Sales Mgr and the entire philosophy of the company changed, not for the better. Rankings are determined according to sales goal attainment only not sales volume so you can be doing a great job but if you're not hitting the numbers home office wants you to hit, you're in trouble.

    Advice to Management

Everyone should be selling every product. Rank the reps according to sales volumes AND quota attainment.
