I worked at Desert Financial Credit Union full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers were great. The atmosphere to grow and learn was always open. Members were usually very nice and great to work with.

    Cons

High turnover rate. There was always at least one teller missing/leaving. Some of the position requirements/responsibilities were unfair. Overall was more work for less pay.

I have been working at Desert Financial Credit Union full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Very nice people!
    Community-involved and minded.
Good corporate history and stable company.
There are real issues, but not in every department. I think some areas are good, fun places to work.

    Cons

People here are grown here, so you will experience very unprofessional behavior, because it has been accepted here, and HR is one of the worst places in the company to work.
Be careful if you are a seasoned employee and they hire you. It is not to grow you but to learn from your expertise and grow others. You won't be told that and you won't be renumerated for it. You will help others all day, then work nights and weekends to do your work. It is frustrating to know more than your peers and manager. It would be okay if you knew that going in.
While people are nice to your face, they are passive aggressive, cliquish, gossipy, and retalitory, etc. In 20+ years of work, I have never seen anything like it!
They fire at a drop of a hat and for little of nothing.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house!
Hire people with seasoned skills, degrees and give them authority to make the changes needed; start in HR.
Look at individual units. Turnover as high as 80% is telling you something. Listen to it!

    Pros

    They have good health benefits.

    Cons

Unprofessional behavior- high turnover and poor management. They talk about culture, values, and mission but they treat their employees poorly and cover up their unethical behavior. Really think about working here and read the other reviews.

I worked at Desert Financial Credit Union full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good, hardworking people work there on the front lines.

    Cons

Benefits below average, pay below average. Very high turnover rates.

    Advice to Management

Put dept. heads in-charge that know what they are doing and don't just promote people just because they have survived under the radar. Focus on turnover rates, way to high for a well established financial institution.

I worked at Desert Financial Credit Union full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people that worked there were family.

    Cons

New CEO changed the fundamentals of what a Credit Union should be.

    Advice to Management

Changing the name and the fundamentals of the business is not a solution to improving the bottom line.
