I have been working at Destination XL full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Making the guests happy-customers are underserviced.

    Cons

EVERYTHING! The BEST employees leave and bad ones stay [the pay is LOUSY for what they expect]. Ive seen some of the best Managers I've worked for/with leave this company. Then one is stuck with someone because he/she knows somebody that knows somebody--ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEE!....and they base ALL their decisions on hearsay NOT facts

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring your incompetent buddies from T-Mobile/Men's Warehouse and its employees [no offense I'm sure some are good]. You get promoted or hired because of WHO you know (NOT on your experience or skills). Be ready to play a "dog and pony" EVERYDAY you go to work! Extreme Ownership! Who are you kidding?!!! The great managers get no support to rid the bad apples but yet are held accountable for THEIR actions--which one cannot control-WHAT! HUH?! [we are stuck with them!] Not a promising outlook for this company.

I have been working at Destination XL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

DXL has so much room to grow!
I have been with the company for almost 2 years and can not say enough great things about them.
Our upper management is awesome, our regional is awesome, the store managers are awesome.
With this company there are so much support around you at all times, my peers are great, anytime you need help or have a problem someone is always there to help you and coach you through.
This company does not only do great things for your resume, it is a life long company that I could see myself working for, for a very long time.

    Cons

    Insurance. It doesn't cover much.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work, everyone around you sees what you are doing and setting a good example is key.
Everyone around you looks up to you and loves the support.

    Pros

Great opportunities for growth, highly fulfilling responsibilities, and THE BEST customers I have ever worked with! Upper level field team literally gives you all the tools you need to succeed, you need only to listen and understand your guests, and do what is best by them. The ONLY company I have ever heard of saying "The guest comes first" and actually mean it.

    Cons

Work/life balance is difficult at times for Store Managers, but such is retail.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the excellent communication with the field and home office partners, and continue to train all levels of leaders as proficiently as you have been!

Greatest People! They try hard to make things better for their employees.

I have been working at Destination XL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture of the individual team. Since most locations don't the adequate amount of staffing or hours coworkers have each other's backs

    Cons

Store is open to long: Most stores stop seeing traffic at 7:00 pm

Company is inconsistent with following rules on coupons. Customer service will back customers no matter what leaving the employees looking stupid for simply following company policy.

You loose vacation time if you don't use it. No vacation buyback or rollover. Then there always a reason you can't take vacation. Either a visit coming or short staffed. Then when you finally can it's a blackout date

People will steal sales from you

High goals don't match the actual traffic.

The amount of commission is misleading. Your told that it's ok if your hourly pay is low because of how much commission your making and bonuses. Bottom line he numbers are exaggerated.

    Advice to Management

Develop talent from within better. The training is very week and lackluster.

Visit stores without notice to actually see how a day is going. That way you can give meaningful feedback.

Pay your employees more. More commission incentives besides sport coats. Better payed employees are happier and will give a better guest experience.

I have been working at Destination XL full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay structure and the support from management and the other employees is amazing. Everyone is on the same goal for success.

    Cons

The hours do get long, but easily resolved with voicing concerns. Staying open so late does make for longer, quiet evenings.

    Advice to Management

Possibly more training materials before left alone in the store to assure confidence in the closing process.
