I have been working at Detroit Medical Center full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The insurance is good to have and the company offers tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

The department is completely overworked. Never recognize when you've gone above and beyond the call of duty, management is no help when in need of help and is very vindictive if you go over their head go get the help you need. Little to no room for growth or advance opportunities within the department or company. They only hire men instead of women

    Advice to Management

Don't judge the work ethics of a person just by the sex of the person. Listen to your staff more, most of them have good ideas. Don't be vindictive when your staff is honest enough to come tell you when something is wrong or when you were wrong. You need to hire better management with people skills with an open door policy.

I have been working at Detroit Medical Center for more than 8 years

    Pros

Steady Job, Good Benefits, Great location in the city of Detroit where many new gentrified locations are popping up. The hospital is always updating and adding new things such as the new eatery they have created.

    Cons

No consistency, no room for growth. Management is ok but constantly changing every 2-3 years. The hospital seems to constantly be coming under hot water for always changing and selling company ownership. Many people become afraid of losing their jobs.

    Advice to Management

Get feedback from the workers. Get to know the issues they are having with staff and anything else going on. At least act like you care.

I worked at Detroit Medical Center part-time

    Pros

    Pay ok, benefits, cool staff

    Cons

For profit organization, doesn't care if you have a degree, no room for growth unless you're a nurse , and not enough pay for someone with a degree.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees and start helping those who want/ have an education.

I have been working at Detroit Medical Center part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They are located in the heart of Midtown Detroit so you are close to a lot of events and activities. Positions are pretty stable, depending on the department. Pay is decent as well as employee perks

    Cons

Management needs better, quality training. The building I worked in was very very old and outdated. Benefits can be sky high and there is no room for growth whatsoever. Nurses in certain facilities can be very rude and nasty.

    Advice to Management

You need better training on how to be better managers.
