      Pros

Everyone at Detroit works hard to get the job done, and maintains a culture of excellence in everything they do. This can be seen in the quality, industry leading products which come out of the company.

      Cons

The upper management is based in Germany, a lot of development is based there also. The culture is beginning to change though, with more projects coming the the US.

It is what you make it.

      Pros

Flexible. Latest technology such as laptops, cells, PDAs, VPN and teleconf tools make working from home or remotely an option when "home" demands such. Generally adequate opportunities for moving about the company if you understand the system and big picture necessary to properly position oneself for eligibility. Small administrative HQ gave family feel. Easy to make good (or bad) impression in one's favor. Great benefits. Location makes for decent commute from all directions with alternate routes available in times of bad traffic, construction.

      Cons

HR completely biased toward upper management. Pay scales uneven. Not "fitting in" doesn't seem generally favorable. Not enough genuine diversity. Pay for experience over education could be better balanced.

      Pros

Steady employment, decent benefits, overtime always available. Few layoffs in many years..Company investing a LOT in building / new work (More new hires)..

      Cons

Some management (lower levels), great to work for..Very flexible..Upper management, not so good...Salaried/Hourly ratio is too high in my opinion..

German-owned, but American built with pride

      Pros

Pay rate and perks are beyond most automotive suppliers. One of the last vestiges of a strong union presence.

      Cons

Uneven workloads at a co-worker level. Some positions require little time or attention, while others are overloaded. Historically, upper management will not address these issues and saddles the most competent workers with the lion's share of responsibility, with nearly no difference in salary or consideration for promotion.
