    Pros

It's a great name to have on your resume and a good place to kickstart your career.

    Cons

    * It takes a very long time to get promoted.
    * The company consistently loses its best people due to their inability to promote their people.
    * Some of the most clueless managers you will ever come across.

    Advice to Management

Develop leaders and promote them accordingly. In doing so, you may avoid some of the negative outcomes the bank is currently experiencing.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, lots of career mobility and a good way for a young college graduate to get real experience.

    Cons

The mentality is live to work not work to live. Typical work weeks can be 50+ hours in most of the department. Working here can definitely mean putting your personal life on hold.

    Advice to Management

Better training programs across the bank to help understand each department and their products. Be more transparent with employees about work / life balance expectations.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great team, lots of communication, educational sponsorships. Very easy to make connections within and outside of business lines. Lots of networking opportunities and visits from senior management.

    Cons

Poor upside track currently. Promotions and internal movements have lots of restrictions/requirements.

    Advice to Management

Empower every employee to contribute more creatively vs just filling a specific role.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a very diverse, well rounded group of professionals with lots of room for growth. In my department, we have a good work-life balance.

    Cons

Understandably it is a highly regulated environment, which means there are extra administrative steps and tasks in what seems like a simple process.

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Obtained a lot of good knowledge. Great exposure to markets, products, and large corporate firms. I also made a lot of great life long contacts.

    Cons

Great if you're in the front office, terrible for the rest of the firm. Technology was terrible. Everything outsourced. The employees in India had no idea what they were doing and we spent half the time cleaning up messes they created with big clients due to communication problems, etc. I worked 60 + hours a week. I was promoted and took a pay cut to $53,000 annually since I was no longer eligible for overtime. I asked for a $2,000 raise and was told no, but they'd give me a corporate phone (which made no sense). Left the firm shortly thereafter.

    Advice to Management

Find ways to make the firm profitable, fix technology, cut some fat.

    Pros

Name recognition goes far on a resume.

    Cons

Everything besides the name is awful or insufficient

    Advice to Management

Pay people. Don't reward bad people.

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only big firm in Jacksonville in IB. Great place to start and looks good on your resume. Short commutes to work, which is rare because most big banks are in big cities. Plenty of networking events to meet colleagues whether it is sports teams or happy hour socials (HH not paid for by DB, don't get your hopes up).

    Cons

(From the back office prospective) Managers will block you from moving to different groups because they don't want to have to replace you. You are not eligible to be promoted unless you receive 2 "Very Good" ratings in a row but senior management tells managers not to rate anyone above "good" unless they are years over due for a promotion. They know they have a monopoly on the industry in Jax so they are not too worried if you leave unless you run a team. VPs provide no help with Career advancement but are shocked when you leave (they assume no one has anywhere else to go in Jax). If you have series license prior to working at DB they will not sponsor you unless it is required for your job. The "paying for your MBA" line is a scam. They won't. Every young person in the BO is trying to make it to the FO. Very slim chance as they have a pipeline to Vanderbilt to fill all entry level jobs in FO.

    Advice to Management

No advice. They are playing their cards right. As more banks move down from NY they will have to revise pay/promotions. Until then, they should enjoy their control over the Jax market.
