I worked at Deutsche Bank as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers
    Quite laid-back for a bank
    Great location

    Cons

The assignment was a nightmare--I was assigned to a different department than the one I had applied for and it took four weeks of bureaucratic wrangling to get it back. I was also not informed that the job would be in New Jersey, since I had interviewed at the NYC office.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Thank goodness for my coworkers. I would've gone crazy a long time ago. An atmosphere like this allows the malcontents to find each other.

    Cons

This company is so big that EAs are just used to manage calendars, book meetings and submit expense reports. Before the ban on travel (due to cost cutting measures) I used to get to do that too but no mas as of the past year. Information is disseminated via gossip, not discussions with managers. So many long term employees are just milking the teat - "working" from home, hiring consultants to do their job, not being held accountable for little, yet important things, like not responding to emails. The IT Helpdesk is a disaster because no one actually wants to follow through with anything. All of the in-house systems are counter intuitive so much so that I think they were designed to eff with people. The offices are run down and borderline gross - there is always a light bulb out somewhere - and the people in the Jersey City office do not dress professionally (to say the least). Any office non-EU is treated like a red-headed stepchild and there is an air of superiority wafted over from The Fatherland.

    Advice to Management

Just shoot this dying horse - it would be a mercy killing.

The benefits at Deutsche Bank are excellent. This includes everything from health, savings, and compensation to cultural beneifits and professional development incentives.

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunities are present to do good work. Fairly low level of supervision as long as you are completing the necessary tasks at hand.

    Cons

Organization seems to be in a constant state of flux. Especially on the operations side, where significant changes have resulted in the loss of senior staff, resulting in more junior managers being thrust to the forefront.
Has been in a hiring freeze since 2013.

    Advice to Management

Make a determination on what path to follow. Invest in employees. Stop the organizational brain drain that is constantly occurring. Train managers to do their job.
