I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The bank cares for its employees, which can be seen by the policies implemented for employee benefit. The environment is chilled out and you arnt scorned for asking any obvious questions. Transport facility saves travel stress and conveyance. Salary is above average compared to local competitors.

    Cons

The company being top heavy, one needs to have patience to get promotions. 2 years is average tenure after which you get promoted.
Less visibility of how your work helps the company's top line or bottom line , thus affecting your motivation to work.

    Advice to Management

Promote internal transfers to keep employees involved and help them gain diverse skills

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly work environment
    Good work life balance
    Decent job security

    Cons

Compensation cut by removing bonuses, salary adjustments promised but never delivered
No career progression, limited opportunities for recognition
Organisation has poor understanding of technology, improvement is painfully slow

    Advice to Management

If you want to be a technology company; take a look at how technology companies actually operate and treat their technology staff. It's not enough to just keep saying you reward and retain talent, you have to actually do it.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

IT organization is changing slowly towards to new technology and standards with an opportunity to find a good role. It is a good place to start and learn.

    Cons

Expensive, complicated and isolated IT organization with limited control from business stakeholders resulted in a loss of focus and waste of money. Badly designed policies and regulations result in a gap between declaration and and reality, with chaos in different areas, no promotion for really valuable technicians, high level of hypocrisy in management and HR. Your evaluation in most of the cases fully depends on your relations with direct manager rather than on your skills and achievements.

    Systems are awful
    Systems are bad
    Bad systems
    Did I mention bad system
And pay is not good if you are promoted from within

    Pros

Your team does not hinder your promotion progress i.e. there is not limit to how many AVPs, VPs can be in a team. Everyone can get promoted if they out perform the other candidates on their level across the bank. They have invested in me to travel and work in a different country at my request

    Cons

Its a very large bank so getting these done can be draining and some processes are quite archaic. Focus on career progression can rely heavily on the manager you have

    Advice to Management

I think separating variable compensation for AVP and below vs VP doesnt produce harder working individuals at lower levels. The recognition awards are ok, but more seen as a token, not necessarily earned by achievements, but more of making sure everyone gets a fair go. Thisis coming from a senior AVP. Also, the fact that in the new system AVPs and below, creating SMART goals are optional, is I think a mistake and a bit patronising

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to work on various projects and add value. You will have exposure to upper management Pay is competitive and there is upside growth potential. People are smart, nice and come from diverse backgrounds. Good employee resource groups.

    Cons

Restricted year to year growth due to "HR policy". Technology and systems are lacking in some areas across the bank.

    Advice to Management

Promote people who deserve it, don't hide behind "HR policy". Talent is walking out the door.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Convenient location outside of downtown, good opportunities in some areas.

    Cons

If you are not labeled immediately as a Sr. Mgmt favorite, then move on. You will be stuck forever. Stock is plummeting - no bonuses for last two years and threat of nothing in year three. Massive layoffs and horrible morale.

    Advice to Management

Tone down blatant favoritism towards those earmarked with potential by Sr. Mgmt.
