I have been working at Deutsche Bank as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice entry point to learn about structured credit. Opportunity to learn is there if you want to reach out and grab it yourself. Friendly environment.

    Cons

Come here to kill your dreams. To meet people with real ambition here is a rare occurrence. No actual training processes are in place; everything is taught by word of mouth of what people "think" is the right thing to do. Otherwise, you're here to learn on your own. Being in a friendly environment will also cause complacency.

    Advice to Management

Insanity is the doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The complaints throughout the years have been the same thing, and yet despite all of the suggestions you have been given, you choose to keep the status quo. There is talent to be utilized, yet are ignored.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

DB is by far the most diverse and inclusive company I've worked for--at least in backoffice and operations. Work/family balance is reasonable but some managers are less reasonable. There's a strong sense of community organizing and charity work.

    Cons

Unless you are a Director or higher, you are a tiny cog in a giant engine. Opportunities to stand out are rare. The fight for promotions is about networking rather than working, which is good because IT security and process controls are more important than being able to do your job.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Brand recognition (especially in Europe and Asia, not so much in the US recently because of the recent negative headlines)
-People are pretty nice compared to other IB's in SF; not as many egos
-Location (beats working in the South Bay)
-Very strong semiconductor practice (other verticals, not so much)

    Cons

Aside from the typical cons of working in IB as a junior banker (such as long, unpredictable hours):
-Deal flow was lacking; possibly due to a lot of negative headlines in 2016-2017
-Infrastructure/technology is laughable. No such thing as collaborative software (i.e. Google docs)

    Advice to Management

There have been a lot of cultural overhauls to DB (and other top banks) but still not a great place to work for junior staff. The handling of bonuses for VP's in 2016 dealt a big blow to the morale for junior staff.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Plenty of movement. Plenty of change. Good people. Not a stuffy corporate environment. Good work/life balance. Do your time and start looking to move into another dept. early if that’s your end goal.

    Cons

Technology very outdated, things take a long time. Very process driven. One or two toxic people in upper management. These people cause tension in the team.

    Advice to Management

You should excuse the toxic people from the bank. Even if they’ve been around for a long time. Sometimes they are NOT a role model and do not represent what the future plans are.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to move roles and take on more responsibilities are available. Employees resource groups are great. Resources for professional development are available.

    Cons

No differentiation in pay for great performers. Building is outdated (60 Wall). Infrastructure (technology) is outdated and behind par with peers.

    Advice to Management

Reward employees when they perform, clean out bad performers.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The bank is large, so this review highly depends on your team, but depending on your manager you can get a really dynamic team with a good work life balance.

    Cons

Pay can be lower than some other banks.

    Advice to Management

Keep innovating and listen and make time for me employees to retain talent
