    Many talented people that are very good at what they do

    Too much outsourcing and off-shoreing

    Advice to Management

    Do not continue to see only the paper cost savings associated with moving jobs off shore. Consider the increased reputational and financial risk to the firm and acknowledge that quality will suffer.

    Pros

    DB was the most organized out of all of the companies I worked for. They keep up with the times, treat their employees well and there is a lot of opportunity to grow if you're the type of employee who puts 100% of yourself into your career and have something to offer.
    They actually use the 5-point plan. They didn't just roll it out and work around it. It proved to be very effective. They utilized all of my skill set and challenged me to grow.

    Cons

    DB is very competitive with talent and you really have to know how to negotiate for the salary you want. Smart on their side, but difficult if you don't know how to negotiate a good compensation package.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

    Pros

    Good benefits and compensation, opportunity to learn and advance career. Very entrepreneurial. This is really a global company with a very local feeling. The workforce is pretty young compared to other places i have observed which means the company is in tune with the coming generation. The good side about DB is that if you work hard and long, you get very paid and recognized for such efforts. Be warned, this is not a place you can hide. If you are bad at what you do, you won't advance.

    Cons

    Long working hours, no clear leadership structure, and very independent work environment which has its pros and cons. Personally i like these downsides.

    Pros

    Tremendous opportunities for international postings and development of a global focus. Ego tripping strongly dis-incentivized. The company is more proactive in evaluating employee strenghts/interests and seeking out opportunities for development and that perfect next assignment.

    Cons

    Compensation structure and progression strangely rigid. The technology products can be somewhat outmoded, but are getting better. This may seem like a strange personal prejudice, but it's my contention that any organization that stubbornly refuses to move away from using Lotus Notes will never be the best at whatever it does -- we all have our litmus tests, I suppose.

    Advice to Management

    Communication about overall company health (both successes and failures) is becoming increasingly important -- before it turns up in the press. The bank should also be more aggressive in trumpeting some of it's more recent successes post-Lehman, to qualify the inevitably dreary earnings reports that all banks have and will be issuing in the near future.

    Pros

    It's a quality operation. The people are generally first-rate, HR functions properly, pay and benefits are good. If you need something you can generally get it.

    Cons

    As with any bank there are politics to contend with. Compared to many other banks, though, it's got a real emphasis on scrappy meritocracy.

    Advice to Management

    It's obviously hard to give people a lot of proscriptive guidance about what their risk limits are, but calling it "style drift" only if a trader loses money isn't really that smart.

    Good management strategy in troubled times

    Bureaucratic HR processes; followed by poor / rushed communications

    Advice to Management

    Management handling of the company approach during the financial crisis has been right on the money - DB one of the few banks that made it through (relatively) unscathed

    Advice to Management

    Open up to the way modern companies like Google treat their employees. Good health / financial benefits is not all we need. Provide spaces to take naps, give free healthy lunches, start a gym in the office, etc. There are many things you could improve on in this regard.
