I have been working at Dexcom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fairly reliable work experience. Day In and day out does not vary much. This would be an excellent job for entry level employees to learn how not to do things professionally.

    Cons

Never worked for a company with so little regard to the daily burden the company places on the employee. From non existent to horrible parking arrangements from slim to none parking options, to so crammed in you will sustain vehicle damage. To a draconian it department that has no thought to the amount of work that cannot be accomplished due to their policies and procedures. HR tries to sell itself as employee friendly but comes out at the bottom of mediocre as best. Executive management has great ideas and leadership that is completely watered down by incompetent at best, to political sabotage by a middle management layer looking to cash out their stock options. They have no career path for anyone, there is no mentoring, or help in learning how middle management wants things done until one day even with all the positive annual reviews and raises they will discard you as an employee during the annual November layoffs. I’ve personally seen middle management engage in illegal and ill advised harassment of all stripes to be backed by an incompetent HR department. Many of these management offenders are known and HR policies keep them employed while removing any employees that say anything. They continue to struggle with employee churn because of these known issues. It’s not uncommon for employees to only be there for a year or two until they leave for better jobs, or they are forced out by internal politics.

    Advice to Management

Clean out middle management, look to improve the daily working experience of your employees. Heed the SMEs and senior level staff when they provide input. Hire professional management that knows how to get the company to the next level and can sustain that level.

I have been working at Dexcom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have enjoyed working with a great group of people for several years at Dexcom. There is a real sense of commitment to helping those with diabetes. Our R&D budget as a percentage of our revenue is much higher than other companies I have worked at, and this gives us the backing to aggressively attack project challenges and schedules.

    Cons

With aggressive schedules there is a lot of pressure to excel, but that is not always a bad thing. Communication up and down the organization could be improved so that all team members have the same goals and understanding.

    Advice to Management

Minimize the amount of projects we are all working on. Kill some projects rather than leaving them on life support with people wondering why they should even work on the project.

I have been working at Dexcom full-time

    Pros

Given Dexcom's maturity as a teenage company and it's fast paced environment, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow as the company does. You are likely to have more opportunities to work on meaningful projects that add real value in a few years versus at a stable, mature company in maintenance mode.

    Cons

Depending on the function and area of the business, foundations are still being built, so those who need a high amount of structure and process may become frustrated. There's no doubt that it's fast paced and can sometimes be hectic, but that's what I expect when you are supporting the creation of cool technology that's improving life with diabetes.

    Advice to Management

Better leverage data from the employee survey to drive action plans that will keep engagement high.

I have been working at Dexcom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Probably the best work experience I've had. The vast majority of people are very competent and the management encourages a spirit of cooperation and courtesy. The product is life changing for the patients, and very gratifying to work on.

    Cons

    In one word: the parking.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. There are some know areas of necessary improvement, but the management is well aware of them and works on them constantly.

    Pros

I have been working at Dexcom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing tech and you get the opportunity to help people who really need the help

    Cons

I can only speak for technical support which is where i work, but there is no desire to make things better, the idea is keep doing it and don't worry about it. All the work in this department is done by 20% of the staff the rest avoid work and are praised for it. If you are looking for a pat on the back it isn't coming unless you are friends with your supervisor or members of leadership. Nepotism on high at Dexcom in general. Also, culture at least in tech support is abysmal. There is a reason call outs are so high.

    Advice to Management

Take a serious look at whats going on in tech support and be honest about who does what and make tough decisions about who actually helps the department and who is here using you for an inflated pay rate. The culture we used to have that was customer centric is slowly dying and focusing on numbers is not going to help that. If you focus on consistency your numbers will work themselves out not the other way around.
