They pay well and will entice you with the great culture and leading brands. In the beginning it appears to be a good place to work don't be fooled run for the door fast! the only positive was the bar

    Cons

Management is so dysfunctional and political that your not sure how decisions are actually made. There is a lack of strategic insight from arrogant and pompous senior management teams that makes the place toxic. Save your career.

    Advice to Management

stop the bleeding of the great talent walking out the door and admit you have issues - company doesn't care about people

I have been working at Diageo (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Employee Brand Ambassador Program
-Flexibility is nice especially for families
-Pub nights are fun, but after awhile loses its luster

    Cons

    -Management lack of focus
    -favorites always getting the opportunities
    -my way or highway approach
-constant reorg and threatening of lowering band level

    Advice to Management

Hire managers with management experience to cultivate talent. Too often there are managers in role who are more self centered. I see this in my entire department.

I have been working at Diageo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good perks and benefits if you enjoy Thursday nights at the bar with good drinks and beautiful models. Luckily for me, this is a boy's club. By miles a company that is fun to work for in technology since there is no leadership with clear and measurable targets. In the 5+ years I have been with the company doing supply and IT project delivery, I've survived failing projects and disastrous budgeting plans. You build strategic alliances and a strong attitude and people will respect you and leave you alone. Very short commute from my home in Norwalk is a plus!

    Cons

It's amazing the wasted capital placed into disastrous global Diageo business services. Management goes on events and social spending using corporate funds while funding is cut for good projects. Our department had 5 expatriate employees within the past 2 years. Budgeting 500k each plus benefits on a company looking to cut spending. 1 expatriate quit after 4 months due to the lock of viable guidance by management.

    Advice to Management

Shake the technology managers within corporate or expect key employees to continue leaving. Expect the legal system to come down if no action is taken. The responsible parties have been negligent to employee's complaints on mistreatment, discrimination and favoritism by high rank technology managers.

I worked at Diageo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

U make new friends and meet weird people. The money is ok, the floor staff are lovely and helpfull, except the management that are extremelly mean to the staff.

    Cons

Worked in the Guinness Storehouse and I witnessed the worst abusive behaviours from the TL s and managers. Saw colleagues being bullied, being disrespected and blackmailed! Union had to be involved several times! Morning Meetings are held to expose/point the problems in the company, what the staff are struggling with nd managers take this as a personal and offensive criticism and don t even care to what the staff are saying. Lack of maturity and professionalism of the management make the environment worse. Opportunities are given in a preferencial way, which is not fair on the rest of the staff that have been working as much as the otheres.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the managers? be part of the team! Lead your staff and be the example to them and move urself out of this comfort zone! Listen to your staff!! Give them opportunities to keep them motivated to go this place every single.morning for their own meriths and dedication ! Be an inspiration! Stop the early meetings if nothing is going to change! Take your job seriously, with passion and care! Not possible to give a pay rise? Fine, still tell them how much they re important to this place! Something is going wrong? Listen to it, be open minded to take criticisms and advises, spend a week doing their jobs. Learn!

    I worked at Diageo full-time

    Pros

    Thursday Happy Hours
The nice people in the cafeteria.

    Cons

Wow. I have never seen such BULLYING in the work place. Disgusting.
    Incompetent, dumb management.
    Lots of re-orgs and layoffs.
People have to double up in cube spaces.

    Advice to Management

What an unprofessional environment. How do you think you're going to get on Best Places to Work List when bullying is an every day occurance... even in HR? You know it exists, yet you turn the other way. You should be ashamed of the disrespect that goes on.

Diageo does not live by it's values. What a joke.

I worked at Diageo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Job description for a Junior Analyst position sounded great.

    Cons

The job application has a mandatory field asking what nationality the applicant is. This is unacceptable and illegal. Shouldn't you be hiring based on education, skills, and past experience?? What relevance does an applicant's nationality have?

    Advice to Management

Please have your HR review the pre-screening questions on your applications.

I have been working at Diageo full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice office in most locations, competitive salary, great benefits, like-minded people, flexible environment! Unfortunately Free Bar at office is one of the pros, hope I could say more than that but in the current environment the organisation has lost some of its pro!

    Cons

New leadership direction is all about profitability, share price and productivity with rapidly declining value for people. Global head of HR leads the way in making sure the organisation has lost its value in people. You can rise and fall very quickly, it's all about personal opinions. Complete lack of integrity when dealing with people. Keeps changing and restructuring with no regards for people. It gets bored of old leaders and put the new ones in place with a free rein and then when they mis-use that freedom, they are changed again! And the cycle continues.... it's all about flavour of the month!

    Advice to Management

Be true to your values, think long term sustainability, and manage people with integrity!
