    Pros

It was a great environment when I started 7 years ago but lately there are too many changes and reorgs.

    Cons

They say that talent is the most important thing but they don't sustain that with actions.

    Pros

Good benefits and ability to work from home, sometimes.

    Cons

Slavery! And things are getting worse. I have worked long hours for 3 years with no opportunities for promotion. Management is being very vague about promotion and opportunities. It seems they prefer to have people exactly where they are.
Diageo brought in consultants, so lay-offs has been frequent. Expect massive exit from the company in the next years. Who wants to slave without any opportunities in the future?

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the consultants and listen to your employees - they have all the answers you need.... for free.

    Pros

They pay well and will entice you with the great culture and leading brands. In the beginning it appears to be a good place to work don't be fooled run for the door fast! the only positive was the bar

    Cons

Management is so dysfunctional and political that your not sure how decisions are actually made. There is a lack of strategic insight from arrogant and pompous senior management teams that makes the place toxic. Save your career.

    Advice to Management

stop the bleeding of the great talent walking out the door and admit you have issues - company doesn't care about people

I worked at Diageo full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great spirits portfolio with amazing brands that seem to endure any adverse conditions.

Many talented people in the company and respectful work environment.

Decent salaries and benefits overall, although not the best out there.

Supportive when needed in terms of health, family issues, etc.

Good school for development at an early career stage.

    Cons

DIAGEO used to be one of the best companies to work for. Excellent Values and culture, everybody was proud of working there. The last 4-5 years it has changed a lot and not for the better.

Politics have been taken to a whole new level, it is not what you know and what you do but who you know (preferably one of the illuminati's that can leverage your career with the exec). Many people promoted to positions without having the experience or knowledge of the business required. It always comes down to "leadership capabilities"="the better you manage up, the bigger leader you are".

Add to that an OD every 2 years and you get the results: Many experienced people in the industry leaving the company one way or the other, and being replaced by people from other companies/industries without a clue of what needs to be done or the challenges of the spirits industry; instead of promoting or giving the chance to internal people.

Last but not least: HHRR needs to be replaced; 100% of them no doubt. "Never trust anyone" attitude, they are not there to help and develop people and careers, their job has come down to make statistics look good and save money to the company. Very old and antagonistic practices, where at the end it is easier to manage a lot of average people than striving to improve conditions and develop careers for AWESOME people.

Not creating conditions that will attract and retain the best talent.

    Advice to Management

Feedback culture has been lost, it is a 2 ways street. Be open to listen and to get involved in the day to day issues. Be part of the solutions and the team, get closer.

Promote meritocracy again, stop the political egocentric race that has been created. Honest, talented and caring people have left and the rest will wait to get their package and get out at the first opp. You will end up with a lot of followers that have nothing to say instead of agents of change that are striving to win and create the best company in the world.

Get yourselves organized and support changes, let things to settle making people feel safe and with a purpose, before deciding something new just because you want a good message for the investors . Productivity and loyalty will increase and results will happen as they are supposed to. Celebration will be the best and most purposeful outcome at that point.

I have been working at Diageo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Product allowance ( I guess ), Pension, High salaries,
    Bonus above industry standards
    Fridays remote work
    Fairly flexible
Its a decent place to work in general if you are part of a project team.

    Cons

Its not what you know but who you know. If you are new and highly skilled watch yourself and dont shine to bright unless you are ready to play the game.

Brown nosing in this place is at a whole new level and the worst I have ever seen.

Too many town halls and meetings with management. Management seems to be open but with all the meetings its tough to determine if its honest or just a stunt.

I cant think of another IT shop with so many low skilled people in so many high places because of who they know. Also literally everything is outsourced. Pc support, help desk even incident management. Also projects are king meaning if you are not on one or able to get on one you don't have a purpose even if you are BAU.

Pub nights on Thursdays actually a negative for me, i absolutely hate it because it comes with the price of your soul - after a hectic weak I want to go home to my family not play more political chess and or have to attend a silly promotional party to pitch something. If these felt no pressure to attend than this would be a huge positive.

Mandatory fun events, picnics and or events should be one that people WANT to attend not ones where they say they are required.

    Advice to Management

Stop the amount of meetings, less is better and way more effective.

I worked at Diageo (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - I was mentored and trained by their Wine Tracker, Tony Gruzdiv, who is very knowledgeable and very smart. He was very patient and diligent with teaching me WiPS.

    - I worked with the Cellar team and Lab. Both fantastic and hard working people.

    - Harvest activities was fast paced and busy.

    - Townhall meetings were great for acknowledging outstanding employees and informing us of any changes.

    - Celebrations were inclusive to all employees.

    - Paid a generous amount for my entry-level knowledge

    - Diageo is a giant in the industry and to work for one of their companies was an invaluable experience

    Cons

    - I would have appreciated more department or one on one time with upper-management.
