    Pros

Great benefits, company culture, nice people, amazing products

    Cons

Restructuring with major lay offs every ~3 years or so; not always a clear path as to vision and direction; long hours, with little work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Be more visible, transparent and honest with what is happening now, and what is to come

I worked at Diageo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good Benefits
    Very Social Company
    Ongoing Flex Fridays

    Cons

Lack of compliance deeply embedded in the culture in many groups ( marketing agency kickbacks, racism, nepotism, falsification of distribution sales values)
Had very poor management at senior levels
Diversity is a buzzword and not a practice at Diageo
No significant roles senior leaders that are black or Hispanic
Mid level and director level leaders really suffer for the lack of knowledge, integrity, and mentorship of their managers
Categorically does nor promote black employees and women

    Advice to Management

The current management is doing the right thing by have removed the former CHRO, CMO, CEO ( he retired) and CFO in North America. No matter what kudos there is on Glassdoor, this wipe out of more than 60% of the executive team confirms how very bad things got at Diageo. These people either turned their eyes away from the gross lack of compliance and lack of fairness in the work environment or in some cases were low in integrity and non-compliant themselves. There are great people who suffred job losses as a result of the negative behavior of many of the aforementioned and the people on their teams who should not have been/be in senior roles or at the company at all. You have a lot of residual disgrace to clean up and a good name based on sales but not a good name in the social community of the industry and Fortune 500 space. Investigate who is working on your business and how they are interacting with vendors to avoid any more investigations and disgrace.

Integrity and diversity are the greatest challenge at Diageo and hopes are high that Ivan will turn it all around .

    Pros

Some of the finest adult beverages in the world. Flexible working schedule, family friendly. Good benefits, bonus structure, and vacation policy. Opportunity for growth if in the right department/function. Great severance policy!

    Cons

Since 2008 they re-org which results in good people being let go. They've moved away from valuing the experience people bring to simply caring about "the bottom line". If they can do this role in Budapest or somewhere else where labor is 40-60% cheaper than US, its moved.

    Advice to Management

Get back to really valuing your people and stop the constant re-org's as you will never become a well-oil machine in terms of your business processes.

I worked at Diageo full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Lots of great people across the organization
Great brands to work with, product allowance, and a bar in the office!
    Well respected organization
    Decent salary and good benefits.
Generally, culture is collaborative and supportive
Good opportunities for new roles or global transfers if you're in that 'club' of influence - You don't get them by being good at your job.

    Cons

A lot of pressure put on managers - and if your manager is not good, you're experience will not be.
    Limited opportunities for growth
Corp head office is is a terrible location - inaccessible by public transport
Lack of senior leadership and and clarity in priorities
    Very internally focused
    A lot of change afoot
A lot of long stayers (and lifers) make change and fresh ideas difficult to implement

    Advice to Management

Need to start living the values you preach, and get big and bold on priorities. The nepotism in senior placements has to stop. Some fresh blood would help the organization go far.

I have been working at Diageo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fair benefits, great office location, flexibility (can often work from home).

    Cons

Let's start with the basics: you will not have a desk. Every morning you have to come in and search for an open space.
Leadership has an unrealistic view of the market. Lofty brand and annual growth targets are overly ambitious and when they realize they will not be met there are gross cuts on A&P funds, T&E, Trade Spend and overheads to make financial goals...which contradict their initial goals.
Roles and responsibilities are not clear. One often performs 3-4 positions and life-work balance is absent.

    Advice to Management

Look at the market! Listen to customers! Set realistic goals and give clarity on job descriptions. Remember employees have lives outside of Diageo.

I worked at Diageo full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You will work with very smart competitive people, this is a great company to learn how to work with high standards and ethics, you will have lots of fun going to events they always make the best brand launches and the portfolio of products is fantastic!

    Cons

You don't have any job stability, you never know when the next restructure is coming and when you will have to loose your job. People become very hostile and competitive for the same reason, they all want to survive.

    Advice to Management

Better direction, be more nurturing to your employees.

    Pros

Great benefits, bar in the building (not that I use it), opportunity for growth for "golden boys", product allowance

    Cons

I used to be proud to work for Diageo. Now, after years of poor performance, I am not. We have sold off some great brands and employees are just waiting for the next layoff. IT is poorly managed as are numerous other functions. Would leave but unfortunately Diageo does pay well for Fairfield County, CT.

    Advice to Management

Show a commitment to your employee base. Grow your brands, don't simply slash headcount to make your bottom line number.

I have been working at Diageo (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Employee Brand Ambassador Program
-Flexibility is nice especially for families
-Pub nights are fun, but after awhile loses its luster

    Cons

    -Management lack of focus
    -favorites always getting the opportunities
    -my way or highway approach
-constant reorg and threatening of lowering band level

    Advice to Management

Hire managers with management experience to cultivate talent. Too often there are managers in role who are more self centered. I see this in my entire department.
