I have been working at Diageo full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great portfolio of brands, quarterly allowance for brand ambassadorship which increases based on salary band, weekly pub nights. Promotes culture of diversity and acceptance across all ethnicities, sexual orientation, etc.

    Cons

Rotating leadership makes it difficult to drive consistent strategy. Decision making is always a moving target. Very young talent pool and horrible turnover rate (nearly 100% turnover in 3 years) due to burn out which perpetuates burn out across the team due to increased workload to compensate for the leavers. Career path planning is nearly impossible. It is difficult to land...

    Advice to Management

Focus on drivers for attrition and applying the appropriate tools for retention. Revisit workloads when attrition is high to prevent further burn out of the remaining workforce. Clear communication when organizational change happens. (Seems to happen in the vacuum then lives on in the rumor mill.) More HQ presence to drive more of the HQ culture in terms of professionalism, especially in light of the younger team and...

I have been working at Diageo full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

Good pay, Vacation time and, benefits. Co workers are fantastic people.

      Cons

Lack of training for skilled trades, To much change and no consistency when a plan is Instituted. Most of the management team have very little experience to help with decision making.

      Advice to Management

Invest in your employees that work on the equipment and you will have much better results with your OEE's. The employees have a lot of investment in Diageo and will deliver the results needed if trained to the degree needed. The outside vendors that have been coming in are new and have less knowledge then the Diageo employees. What makes this bad is the managers listen to the vendors instead of your employees that are...

I have been working at Diageo full-time for more than 9 years

      Pros

Many industry perks, great co benefits. Having DIAGEO on your résumé opens many other doors within the industry

      Cons

Decision making is long and tedious, career advance could be challenging due to process, but you are "good" if you know someone. Yearly company re-organization, has people wondering for their future constantly

      Advice to Management

Improve HR, make it more limber and accessible Recognize people as individuals Be flexible, loose the ends and make more decisions based on circumstances not always process

I have been working at Diageo

      Pros

Makes a great effort in promoting diversity in the workplace. Prides itself on having the leading brands in the industry. Can be a good place to work depending on the location.

      Cons

The historical leadership position within the industry has bred arrogance in many employees especially within the UK. Has its fair share of company or consultant generated buzz words that are looked for in the language that employees speak. Functional global matrix organisational design has meant that there is not complete clarity within markets and that budgets are covetted as personal money stores. Lack of decision...

      Advice to Management

Take the long term strategic decisions for the company and don't throw the vision plans away in order to meet short term profit targets. The culture is not just words, it needs to walked with conviction.
