I have been working at Diakon Logistics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have been in the logistics industry for over 35 years. I have worked for several 3PL companies and seen many different styles, approaches and leaders. Diakon strives to be the best. they accomplish that by hiring the best in the industry and allow them to run the business. Their #1 focus is "Taking car of Mrs. Jones" and they hold their ICC partners, staff, management and leaders to that standard. I made the mistake of leaving the company in 2011, but was blessed with the opportunity to return in 2016.

    Cons

None that I can think of right off hand. All 3PL companies make mistakes , but Diakon is quick to recognize them and make corrections.

    Advice to Management

Continue holding everyone to the high standards of "Taking care of Mrs. Jones"

I worked at Diakon Logistics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great computer software training. Opportunity for advancement. New skills attained for future opportunities with better companies

    Cons

Horrible chain of command. This place is worse than a soap opera with all of the mischievous coworkers and management. Pay was horrible for the amount of time labor and skills put into the work.

    Advice to Management

Get it together and maybe you'll be able to keep contracts

    Pros

competitive pay. great manager that i worked with day to day. set schedule was nice. opportunity for growth.

    Cons

shared an office with another company. complete and utter chaos. extremely noisy and unprofessional. unorganized. absolutely no training

    Advice to Management

understand that it is already hard for your employees to focus on 12 things at once and don't get upset when they have trouble tuning out said 12+ distractions when you are wanting their full attn. also it is extremely unprofessional to expect to get anyone's attention by yelling at them in a call center environment

I have been working at Diakon Logistics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are no pros with this crooked company.

    Cons

Never worked anywhere that physical aggression was a real possibility on any given day. Why? The environment is toxic with underpaid, over-worked employees/contractors. Unrealistic expectations in run-down, shoddy conditions. In cahoots with Sears, to the same end. Lie to/under-pay workers. Cowardly, lying managers who try to intimidate people personally.

    Advice to Management

    Go away!

I worked at Diakon Logistics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good support from Corporate in Manassas, great networking with fellow managers across US, decent pay, you WILL work a LOT (50+ minimum)

    Cons

Company makes low bids to clients and therefore your warehouse will suffer- poor location, worn out building with leaks and critters, low paid laborers

    Advice to Management

Try not to be the lowest bidder-- decrease the overall profit a smidge and you will be able to retain your good managers better

I have been working at Diakon Logistics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very fair and professional. Never will they ask you to do something that isn't in your best interest. Teams are incentivized and it pays to do a good job.

    Cons

Clients can be demanding and if you don't please Mrs. Jones you will not do well.

    Advice to Management

    Expand to North West.

    Pros

As an employee you are stretched to your max performance level. This became a pro, in a way, because I discovered that I was capable of doing more than I was aware of.

    Cons

Over worked and underpaid, unprofessional management, poor work conditions, extremely high level of stress, little room for advancement, unrealistic expectations on employees, long hours, dishonest leadership,

    Advice to Management

Determine appropriate expectations for each employee based on their environment. For example, did you place them in a quite office? Or, did you throw them into a cesspool pool of employees where everyone is expected act as receptionists and managers while blocking out tons of distractions and completing their own jobs at the same time?

Management that disrespects the client, disrespects the owner/operators and performs dishonestly should be replaced.

Don't expect employees to perform outside of their position without compensation.
