I have been working at Diamond Offshore full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It is a stable company, strong financially.
A good size to make a difference with your work and get noticed.

    Cons

Being very a very expense conscious company, it can sometimes be a challenge to get large projects approved and off the ground.

    Advice to Management

In this very competitive oil and gas market, the hard decisions need to done to keep the company running and profitable.

I worked at Diamond Offshore full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Half day Fridays are good for parents who need to get things done for their kids. There are some good people to work with.

    Cons

Benefits aren't very good especially if you have the whole family on your plan like I did. Vehicle break-ins happen more than you would like.

    Advice to Management

Nothing to say because they will not listen.

I have been working at Diamond Offshore full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They still offer a decent salary

    Cons

Quick to lay off. Does not communicate well with employees. Employees wonder if they will be next always looking over their shoulder. Always shaking up management (as in you never know who is in charge of what) Will lay off experienced personnel without regard or thought. No severance pay just 'Thank you but your services are no longer needed'. I've watched good people...talented people...good workers....given the brush off. They target older employees and lay them off leaving little experience behind.

    Advice to Management

Think of your employees. Think of practicing what you preach....think about timely communication and respect of your workers. Value them. Value what they have to offer and Value their experience. Stop taking away benefits. All the persons left are too scared of losing their job to give honest opinions or input. Its a sad way to run a company. Other oil companies are beginning to hire but Diamond is still laying off good people. Why?

I worked at Diamond Offshore full-time

    Pros

family among some, half day fridays, vacation and personal time (not pto)

    Cons

    industry uncertainty
    lack of teamwork
    brutal layoff tactics

    Advice to Management

i understand you're in survival mode, but that doesn't mean you should treat your employees as commodities only. Work on a sense of family. Prepare affected personnel of impending layoffs. If larger than you companies can handle it, so can DODI. Your tactics are egregious.

    Pros

Great Pay! Benefits are top notch. Safety is their Top Concern.

    Cons

Stressful/Low Job Security. Too many personnel issues, mostly due to poor management and communication on the rigs. Junior workers are often left in the dark on important issues, creating stressful and sometimes toxic work conditions. Safety requirements go overboard, creating management to push workers harder do to time constraints. This job is not for the person who have difficulty dealing with high stress jobs.

    Advice to Management

Monitor rig management more closely, and communicate with lower level workers in a professional setting.
