I worked at Digi International full-time

    Pros

Design and build product in USA

    Cons

Lack of Company Support for Employees within business unit and from HR when seeking assistance with job or personnel issues. Lack of Support from Sales Management to ensure sales team and ultimately company success.

Chasing quarterly Wall Street numbers appears to be Digi's main focus.

    High Employee turnover.

    Advice to Management

Stop chasing Wall Street and focus on product innovation and employee retention.
Focus on the customer and employees instead of Wall Street.

An unstable work force and sales force due to frequent firing and individuals leaving due to excessive stress to job requirements and sales quotas will only continue to create an unstable company.

The outside and inside sales individuals pay the ultimate price for not meeting unrealistic sales quotas and timelines to turn regions around.

Sales Management continues in their rolls without being held accountable for their failures. They manage up instead of down and provide no real support for their sales teams to ensure their success. The Sales force is seriously under staffed.

    Pros

Can find one that defines a great place to work- a very negative and lack of leadership environment

    Cons

    No leadership on any level

    Advice to Management

All VP and CEO needs to be fire and hire fresh talent

I have been working at Digi International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Intelligent coworkers, stable company.

    Cons

Compensation is not competitive. Benefits are not competitive. Talented employees are leaving in droves. New hires are just out of school. Cronyism is rampant. Workload is poorly managed. Corporate utility systems (HR, IT, etc...) are inflexible, antiquated and inefficient. Company has bet its future on hardware-services integration but corporate culture is increasingly siloed. Project/product teams don't communicate with each other. There is very little coordination of effort across departments/teams.

    Advice to Management

Management incentive structures are at odds with both employee and investor priorities. Cronyism is crippling the company and preventing meaningful change. Corporate vision is built on delivering integrated hardware/software/service solutions but hardware, software, and service divisions don't speak, communicate or share information effectively.

I worked at Digi International full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Great co-workers. Used to be a great environment that may be capable of restoring

    Cons

The organization is a rudderless ship with senior leadership at the helm. They have lost all focus on what made the organization successful. They are ridding the company of successful products and focusing on failing ones.

    Advice to Management

Retire and/or re-invest in your core.

I have been working at Digi International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good Work Life balance.
    Flexible work hours
    Cutting edge technology

    Cons

    Very unstable
Higher management seem very unsure about the road map.
    Lack of clear vision

    Advice to Management

This company seemed to be very stable couple of years ago. However, with the transition everything seems to be fallen apart. With its product line, could have been a big competitor with the big ones like CISCO in wireless communications market.

    Pros

Digi International does provide plenty of time off and is really flexible with their time off requests and sick days.

    Cons

No real room for advancement, the company has gone years without providing any raises, constant pointless meetings that serve no purpose.

    Advice to Management

Place more of a focus on hiring from within and providing more opportunities for advancement.
