I have been working at DigitalGlobe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Honestly some of the brightest and best people work here. I've learned tons and still have much to learn. Good benefits. Excellent working environment with a great work/life balance.

    Cons

Somewhat chaotic with big company requirements like a timekeeping system that no one appears to pay attention to. Frequent redirects - more time doing than thinking about why we're doing it.

    Advice to Management

You could speed up if you slowed down. Spend even a bit of time on software like you do on the satellites.

    Pros

Brilliant engineers. Beautiful HQ. Excellent benefits. Supportive HR.

    Cons

Well-meaning senior leadership that were/are not experienced in transforming a DoD company into a commercial revenue powerhouse. The senior leadership missed said "no" to multiple opportunities to become a true and rare unicorn in 2009, 2010, 11, 14, 15... Google wanted them to build some cool stuff - DG said no. Microsoft asked, and DG walked. They get in the way of themselves, then are late to market or become an also ran, or a content provider to game changers when they could have changed the game if they hadn't had such fearful leadership. The company needed leadership from the tech world to succeed outside of DoD. Instead, they got leaders from documentation and reference information. Dull. And, the management team comes across as dull.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing - go back to your roots. But, figure out what it takes to be a gold medalist... why are you guys happy with silver and bronze?

I have been working at DigitalGlobe full-time

    Pros

Amazing technology and forward leaning people on some teams - huge opportunity to completely change the geospatial industry. Good excitement and engagement in the C suite

    Cons

The company cannot get out of its own way. Management is the epitome of cronyism. Huge number of jobs seem to exist just to get in peoples way. Innovation is slowed by bureaucracy and an unwillingness to move quickly. Way too many VPs who can slow things down.

    Advice to Management

You have too many VPs who are standing in the way. People shouldn't have to leave your company and return just to get competitive salaries. Culture is not something that is shoved down peoples throats and tightly monitored, but rather the sum of what everyone brings to the table.

I have been working at DigitalGlobe full-time

    Pros

Highly technical, Fun environment, Cool building. The game room and cafe are top notch, and the open work environment promotes collaboration.

    Cons

Corporate red-tape, Lack of communication, No Christmas parties. It can feel like the management is trying to take things away that they used to offer for free. There is also an expectation that you work harder for the same pay.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better. And communicate to the entire company better. There is just a lack of communication all around.

    Pros

Modern, friendly work environment with some very smart employees. The company does some amazing things with technology and has the potential to have a very large impact.

Internal processes are disorganized and restrict project development within the company. The company is trying to define their role in the industry outside of government contracts

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more and concentrate your efforts
