I worked at Digitas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible work-life balance - best of the agency world
Day-to-day work is all self-determined, great atmosphere for self-starters

    Cons

Promotions are not merit based and solely tied to department budgets meaning you can deserve a promotion for a yr+ and not be rewarded if the dept is short on money

    Advice to Management

    Focus on retaining strong talent

I have been working at Digitas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Keep employees as best they can regardless of what's going on
    - Great culture
    - Great people to work with
    - Awesome things to do outside of work if you have the time
    - Accommodate to real life situations (new pet, apartment situations, working from home)

    Cons

    - Political (but what isn't in life? Learn to play the game or move aside for those of us that will)
    - Promotions take long
    - No clear path for one to follow in certain disciplines so they know what's next
    - Bouncing around on accounts/teams (but at least they keep you busy as best they can)
    - Had one manager who was/is not transparent which doesn't help me grow

    Advice to Management

Keep working at ironing out the kinks and keep this a dope place to work! Thanks!

    I worked at Digitas full-time

    Pros

The work can be incredibly challenging in a good way depending on the client that you work on. There are endless chances to learn and grow. The people are fantastic to work with, definitely make the office enjoyable even when you've had a very long week.

    Cons

Depending on the client, the hours can be manageable or far too long. As with any agency, people are incredibly busy, which means politics can factor a great deal into promotions.

    Advice to Management

Make sure employees are clear on paths to promotion

I worked at Digitas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed, loft-style environment with graffiti on the walls and lots of perks. Young employees, fun company events, free drinks and snacks, growing like crazy.

    Cons

Long hours for media department, can take a while to get a raise.

    Advice to Management

    Consider consistent performance based raises.

I worked at Digitas full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Office space, atmosphere, HR, staffing/GSS team
Everyone feeds off of each other creatively.....there is never a "bad" idea since they usually turn into great ones.
You walk into the office and KNOW you are at a creative agency

    Cons

You think it won't get better....then it does
You aren't able to sit on the sidelines and not contribute (sarcasm)

    Advice to Management

If I could offer management one piece of advice......I wouldn't because they all know what they are doing and I would just screw it up.

I worked at Digitas (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of soda, snacks and beer. Gee, that's awesome.

    Cons

Worked with creative directors who were good at loving an idea one day, then hating it the next. They changed the focus/goal of one assignment 4x in two weeks, and then threw some folks under the bus in meetings and on email. Classy. Many people on here have said the HR is the worst. They were actually some of the more pleasant/helpful people at Digitas.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue.

    Pros

Learned a lot, great networking opportunity. Really expanded my knowledge and experience with project management.

    Cons

You really have to like advertising. Things can be slow. You have to be a self-starter.
