I have been working at Dillard's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Associates are good people for the most part.

    Cons

In my opinion, the position of selling business manager is one of the most difficult in the company because it's really two jobs at once.

I have been working at Dillard's full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I’ve made some good friends here. Almost all of us have left or will be leaving very soon. Vending machines in the break room. Men’s and women’s restrooms available

    Cons

Unbelievably incompetent, irresponsible and condescending upper management! No HR Department!!! Need to use cell phone at work with no reimbursement. Drug and alcohol use while on the sales floor permitted with no action taken (even after multiple reports to Mgmt) Monthly schedules not posted until a few days before beginning of that month. Required to work 12 hour shifts and stretches of 12-14 consecutive days. This...

    Advice to Management

Please stop treating your employees like 10 year old children who’s only mission in life is to serve you. Your employees have a life that matters. Listen to them and treat them with respect. Try smiling at your employees and speaking to them, not at them. Perhaps they would not all quit and your turnover would decrease. Hire smarter Hire SMARTER!!! HIRE SMARTER!!!!! Enforce dress codes!!!!!

I worked at Dillard's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

!!! Clinique!!! Being with truly incredible coworkers! Clinique in general is an incredible brand to work for that I will always stand by!

    Cons

This Dillard’s location is absolutely horrible! ZERO training! NO communication! Unrealistic expectations! The list goes on and on!

    Advice to Management

All I can say is Dillard’s Willowbrook in Houston, TX will continue to fail as well as lose a huge percentage of their employees in a very short period of time until management is replaced. I can’t even put my experience into words to be quite honest. It was nothing but disfunction from my very first day one the job until the very last! Management will shake you to your core with their unethical and unprofessional ways...

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Dillard's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Occasional free things. Affairs with upper management rarely had repercussions. EXTREMELY difficult to be fired (outside of stealing, lack of sales, and tardiness)

    Cons

Over all outdated company. Mostly male corporate environment. Lack of a standard training, lack of a consistent training. Intense pressure for sales. Unrealistic expectations, general lack of team work.

    Advice to Management

Ah we'd have to start at the top with the VPs, more professionalism, more on floor selling from the SM and OPS, focus more on building loyalty with employees for less of a turn over rate.

I worked at Dillard's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They're closed on Thanksgiving and you get an hour lunch break.

    Cons

Dillard's is unwilling to update with the times. Traffic gets slower and slower, but all they do is blame hourly employees. The solution to no customers in your stores is not to continually harass customers that do already shop there on the phone. I have seen sales associates be outright bullied by their superiors and speaking to the store manager did nothing. Management held approved vacations against employees, expected...

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees. Even upper management and corporate treats hourly employees poorly. Your in-store management is setting up employees to fail, then creating heavily negative environments where the reaction is not to coach but to berate and pit employees against each other. Catch up with the rest of the world on advertising and sales, if you expect any traffic in your stores.
