    I have been working at Dillard's full-time

    Pros

Easy to move up if you put the work in. Somewhat flexible job to have while working through college.

    Cons

Difficult sales quotas. Poor training. Sales associates that stand at the register get rewarded more so than the ones actually on the floor putting in work.

    Advice to Management

Invest in training and find a way to weed out employees that just want to stand behind the register and ring up sales.

I worked at Dillard's full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The pay was better than most retail but if you became salary, you were not allowed to have a life outside of work.

    Cons

Managers, District and in store, play favorites. Managers that cheat and lie get ahead. Management believes some employees over others without hearing both sides. To get ahead you have to suck up to everyone. Honesty is not valued and neither is hard work.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to treat quality employees. Respect your associates. Management is not any better than their associates.

    Advice to Management

    Eliminate the SPH system

I worked at Dillard's for more than 3 years

    Pros

You will get a paycheck and are paid weekly.

    Cons

There are currently 4 open cases at the civil rights commission. That should tell you everything you need to know about this company. There are paycuts for not reaching sales goals, no coaching.

    Advice to Management

Straighten up. This is 2018. What has worked in the past, no longer does.

Community-like staff, always very friendly; fairly set schedule

    Cons

Competitive selling environment; this role, although a managerial role, is more focused on sales and commission

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Dillard's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Paid weekly, open door policy so don’t be afraid when you have questions. Get to make your own schedule, just make sure it goes with the guidelines otherwise they WILL change it

    Cons

Training process is outdated and not helpful at all, you just mainly learn about Work harassment and how to clean up blood if there was n accident. Unrealistic credit penetration for how slow the store does. Management dictates instead of leads

    Advice to Management

Maybe learn how to teach first before coaching. Show the process of how things work and how the store runs instead of just going through the motions

Former Employee - Selling Business Manager

I worked at Dillard's full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It is normally one of the higher paid stores in the Mall. Employee discount applies to clearance items. This can bring prices way down.

    Cons

Restrictive attendance policy that allows for little or no exceptions. Sales quotas are hard to meet when when cleaning, stocking and markdowns fill your days.

    Advice to Management

Understand that employees work harder if they are happy with the way they are treated. Fear does not motivate the proper attitude.

I have been working at Dillard's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Money is good when sales are good and If your sales aren’t good you may not have a job. Easy job but hard work. This isn’t a retail job that you can just sit around and make your sales. Some staff fight for customers.

    Cons

Can’t stay staffed. Constantly loosing good people to sales. Not everyone wants to open a credit app. Don’t take care of the good staff and zero appreciation from upper management.

    Advice to Management

Get better management, and communication is key to being successful.
