    I worked at Dillard's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

you will move up quickly cause there is SOOOO much Turnover due to the terribly run company and how horrible they treat their employees.

    Cons

you will work from 7AM tell 7PM ... your boss will work 9-530 ... and she will probably give you more work when she leaves at 530 so she doesn't have to stay longer ... There is SOOOO much turnover due to the terrible lack of training and the overload of work they ask you to perform.

Also the company puts NO money into the company .. the computers are from 1971 (black screens and green letters old...) on my first day I was given a standers mechanical pencil and told "don't lose it ... you will NOT get another one" -- they cant even support their employees enough to give them a second pencil.

overall ... I cried more then once a month at work ... and constantly heard other people crying in their cubical due to lack of support and an overwhelming work load. I believe I am a driven person but this was the WORST company, I still have nightmares about my time working there.

    Advice to Management

Support your team better and lessen the work load by hiring the right amount of people. Stop cutting jobs and overwhelming your team ... and give a raise every once and a while ... especially if your giving them more work!

I have been working at Dillard's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay is good. Most store management tries hard to help train and advance associates. Benefits are good, if you are full time.

    Cons

Corporate expectations for associates is not always reasonable. No allowance for quality of life. Sales goals do not take into consideration the economy.

    Advice to Management

Treat your associates with more humanity if you wish to maintain a staff, even in this environment.
Your workers need to be able to maintain a quality of life, as well.

    Pros

    -Employee discount
-401k matching and decent medical benefits
-As long as the stock prices stay high, you are able to save a little money for retirement

    Cons

-There is no focus on work life balance. Do not expect to spend any time with your loved ones around the holidays. This includes full time, salaried buying office employees.
-All decisions are at the discretion on your management and the Dillards themselves.
-PTSD from the workplace is a real thing. Some management can be negative and oppressive.
-There is very limited to no room for advancement once you get passed the assistant buyer role.

    Advice to Management

Bring in management from the outside with proven track records and preferably without the Dillard surname.
Also, it does not hurt to actually care about your employees.
